Dinamo Brest are clearly the favourites when they host Slavia Mozyr at the OSK Brestsky Stadium on Saturday, April the 4th in a Belarus Premier League tie. Dinamo Brest ruffled feathers when they ended BATE Borisov's 14-year dominance of the BPL by winning the league and ending 5 points clear of the runners-up.

But like many top sides this season, Dinamo stuttered in their opening fixture – held to a 1-1 draw at home by Smolevichi-STI, a second-tier club, who are not exactly regulars of the Belarus Premier League. Sergey Kovalchuk's men, however, made a comeback by emerging winners in a hard fought 0-1 away win over a dour Slutsk team last Saturday.

Slavia Mozyr also have a similar story to tell. After being vanquished 1-3 by Slutsk in their BPL opener, Mikhail Martinovich’s side came back with a bang by fashioning a dramatic 2-1 home win over the formidable BATE Borisov.

As for team news, Dinamo's left back Maksim Vitus who came in for Kirill Pechenin in the Slutsk win should be expected to start in that space on Saturday. New signing from Shakhtyor Soligorsk, 32-year old Albanian attacking mid-fielder Elis Bakaj, who featured in the Slutsk game, too, will in all probability start against Slavia Mozyr.  Bakaj will be one of the players to watch out for this season given the kind of spark he showed against Slutsk.

For Mozyr, Ghanaian defensive midfielder James Kotei, a new signing from South African club Kaizer Chiefs, is yet to be given a start and it is hoped that he will be provided one on Saturday. Centre back Igor Tymonyuk returns from suspension but is likely to be benched. Tymonyuk was replaced by Yegor Potapov with centre-back Aleksandr Raevskiy starting beside him in the defense in the Slutsk. The same combination at the back is expected to feature on Saturday night. Yuri Nedashkovskiy will move into a midfield role with Gleb Shevchenko who is likely to make his first start of the season.

The 35 encounters between these two teams so far indicate a head-to-head count of 15-12 in favour of Dinamo Brest with 8 matches being drawn. Brest have won 4 of the previous 5 encounters against  Mozyr in the Belarusian Premier League, a 4-2 win in 2019 being the last one. But Mozyr may be on a momentum coming out of the thrilling win over BATE, which makes the April 4th evening's encounter a thrilling prospect.
