Latest insight from our racing ambassador Thistlecrack It was great to get Thistlecrack back out on the track at Exeter this week to stretch his legs. Racecourse gallops give you the chance to get a good picture of how the horse is moving but they don’t mean everything. I’ve had plenty of horses who have worked unbelievably well and been disappointing, and also had…

Tizzard stables have a busy Saturday ahead Saturday – Cheltenham 1.15 – Brynmawr We are putting Brynmawr in at the deep end a bit here, but there’s only six runners and he jumps well so we took the view that we may as well start him here as in a 15 runner race at a lesser track.  We’re not expecting him to trouble the…

Team Tizzard have plenty of runners on Sunday Sunday – Cheltenham Cheltenham 1.50 Pingshou is a very good horse, who unfortunately missed last season with a tendon injury, but before that was a Grade One winner at Aintree. He’s schooled very well at home, but is sure to improve for this run as he’s been off for so long.  We are chucking him in…

Around two centuries or so ago, the coming of the railway to the Western US expanded the scope of civilization and was one of the mightiest feats of engineering of the era. It has been covered in more books that can be counted, as well as more movies that can be watched in a year or two. Now, it has been made the theme…

Tottenham's Christian Eriksen has opened up about his fitness issues ahead of this week's international fixtures. The 26-year-old, who was an unused substitute during Spurs' recent 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, has struggled for minutes on the pitch since suffering an abdominal injury in October. Eriksen is currently on international duty with Denmark, who are set to take on Wales and the Republic of…

Hopefully, by the time Wayne Rooney actually takes the pitch against the United States, cooler heads will have prevailed; Rooney’s inclusion in the current England squad, albeit with an asterisk against his name, is harmless-yet-meaningful gesture, and it should be applauded. At the moment that isn’t the case, but maybe by next week some perspective will have entered the debate. John Cross raised a…

Some top class jump racing to look forward to over the next three days as The November Meeting at Cheltenham gets under way and BetBright’s Racing Ambassador, Nick Luck, gives us his selections for Day One! Cheltenham 1.50 – A Hare Breath 10/3 A Hare Breath is very low mileage for his age and hasn’t run over fences since last year’s Arkle. He is…

Latest news from the Tizzard stables It was a big week for us as a family, and not just because of the horses.  We made the decision to sell the dairy herd that have been such a huge part of the farm here for many years, and this week the sale took place.  There were several reasons why we took this decision, but the…

The Tizzard crew preview their Friday chances Friday – Cheltenham 12.40 – Bally Longford We kick off a busy weekend with Bally Longford.  He’s a generally consistent sort who got his head in front at Newbury on his last run of last season, and hopefully that win will have done his confidence on the track a world of good.  We’ve been waiting for the…

Ronald Koeman beginning a renaissance in Holland England’s match against the USA may be stealing the headlines on UK shores, but there’s some big matches all over Europe in the Nations League this weekend. France and Holland face off in Amsterdam with Les Bleus knowing a win would see them advance to the last-four. But this won’t be plain sailing for the World Champions…
