Wales v Denmark betting tips: Who’s going to seal promotion?

Updated: 19/11/2024

Odds and preview for Nations League clash

The Nations League format may take some time to get your head around, but the stakes are simple when Wales take on Denmark this evening.

Whoever wins will secure first-place in Group B4 and move into the top tier of the competition. The winner will also secure a play-off spot to reach Euro 2020. That could be very handy insurance in case they don’t make it through the usual qualifiers.

Tune in on Sky Sports Football at 7:45pm to see who takes top spot. But before it gets started, you’ll find all the key info and odds right here…

Head-to-Head

A brace from Christian Eriksen saw Denmark beat Wales 2-0 when they met back in September.

That was their first match against each other for 10 years. The four games between them have produced two wins apiece. Three of those four clashes have also been won by the away side, which could be ominous for Ryan Giggs’ side.

Likely XIs

Wales v Denmark teams

Wales will be hugely boosted by the return of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey. Their two star players have the talent to cause problems for any opposition.

David Brooks will also look to carry his impressive form for Bournemouth onto the international stage.

Eriksen is Denmark’s key player, but Pione Sisto needs to be watched carefully on the flanks. Thomas Delaney has been instrumental in Borussia Dortmund’s storming start to the season too.

The visitors do have an issue in defence, with captain Simon Kjaer missing out. Andreas Christensen is set to fill in, but the talented young centre-back has barely seen any action for Chelsea this term.

Key Battles

If Wales can keep Eriksen quiet, it’ll go a long way to securing a vital win. The Tottenham Hotspur ace is one of the best creators around.

Ethan Ampadu will need to have a big game in midfield to stop him influencing things, even though he hasn’t had a run-out for over a month.

Going forward, the Dragons will be looking to Bale to influence things in the final third. Ramsey’s attacking runs should help to ensure the Real Madrid star isn’t left isolated.

Match Odds

Denmark slightly edge the betting at 33/20, with Wales going for 2/1. You can also get 2/1 on the draw.

Three of the previous four games between these sides have only seen one side score. Both Sides to Score – No is 7/10.

Our odds suggest Bale is the likeliest First Goalscorer at 4/1, with Kasper Dolberg and Nicolai Jorgensen both 11/2 for the Danes.

Bale’s 13/8 to net at any point, while it’s 13/8 that Eriksen scores against Wales again.
