Two of the form sides of the tournament in England and Australia go head-to-head at Lords on Tuesday, in a game that will bring a little extra spice with the Ashes Series coming up later in the summer. Both sides have plenty of pace with the ball and firepower with the bat, a few of the ingredients that should set up a thrilling battle. Form Labs bring you their betting preview and tips for the game to help guide you into scoring the winning runs.

England Need The Win

The tournament came alive over the weekend as first England suffered a shock defeat to Sri Lanka before India and New Zealand came through nail-biters.

A second defeat for Eoin Morgan’s men means their semi-final sport is in jeopardy as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan all breath heavily down their neck, and they’ll need to win at least one of their final three matches to qualify.

While that doesn’t sound too arduous, they’re yet to play the three sides above them in the table and not only could they conceivably lose all three, but the chance to eliminate the hosts from the final four can act as great motivation Australia, India and New Zealand.

Australia In A Rich Vein Of Form

First up they face their oldest rivals at the home of cricket. The Aussies have had a much more serene progress through the group stages, with their only defeat from six matches coming against India.

As we’ve written in almost every preview involving Australia, they’re relying on four or five key individuals as David Warner and Aaron Finch have both hit 150’s in the last two matches, while Mitchell Starc is the joint-top wicket taker and Pat Cummins is sixth.

England v Australia Betting Tips

One of England’s main targets will be to disrupt that opening partnership and in Jofra Archer, they certainly have a man capable of achieving this.

He has 15 wickets alongside Starc and Mohammad Amir and if he can rough up Warner and co, then not only will it go a long way to winning this game, but also etching his name into the starting XI for the Ashes. We’ll stick with the paceman again for top England bowler.

England’s batsman let them down in the last match as their bowling attack has looked strong over the last couple of games, with Archer ably supported by Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes.

As we saw on Sunday in Pakistan versus South Africa, there is something there for the bowler at this Lord’s track. It won’t be easy for the Aussie batsmen, so we’re inclined to side with Steve Smith as their top batsman.

As he showed in their defeat against India, he has the game best suited for dealing with quality bowling attacks in difficult conditions, and he even scored a century against England in a warm-up game.

For all the quality Cummins and Starc possess, England just prefer it when there is pace on the ball. After those two, the cupboard is pretty bare and indeed, both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were on course to chase large targets set by Finch’s men in their last two, but they just ran out of steam.

The host’s batting depth is much greater, and the lack of a quality Australian spinner certainly plays into England’s hands.

Whenever Eoin Morgan’s side have suffered disappointment, they’ve always bounced back and we’re expecting them to do so again here.

England Win at 1.74

Jofra Archer Top England Bowler at 3.50

Steve Smith Top Australian Batsman at 4.35
