Which team among the Patriots, Rams, Chiefs and Saints offers overlay odds to win the 2020 Super Bowl?
If New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees continues to play at the highest-level, the Saints might be the team to beat this season. New Orleans was a blown call away from making the Super Bowl last season. Although they didn’t have a first round draft pick, they improved during the offseason.
They signed the top tight-end free agent, Jared Cook, to help Brees. They also drafted a potential TE star in Alize Mack. On defense, both Sheldon Rankins and Patrick Robinson should come back 100% from injuries that kept them out of the playoffs last season. Two players, Marcus Davenport and David Onyemata will improve. Oh, yes, they also signed away DT Malcolm Brown from New England while Eli Apple should be more comfortable at cornerback.
New Orleans looks super solid at +800.
Which team among the Patriots, Rams, Chiefs and Saints offers underlay odds to win Super Bowl LIV?
This one’s easy. The Kansas City Chiefs might not even win their division, much less win the AFC. Although Patrick Mahomes should be great again, he won’t sneak up on anyone this season.
NFL defensive coordinators are brilliant at making adjustments against quarterbacks. Mahomes has a specific game that requires adjustments. They won’t stop Mahomes. In many cases, they will contain him, though. Not only that, but the reigning NFL MVP will be without his top target, Tyreek Hill. No way Hill doesn’t get suspended after talking about abusing his child on tape.
Defensively, the Chiefs could be in some trouble. Signing Alex Okafor away from New Orleans will help, but Okafor has a history of injuries. Shelling out big bucks for a Seattle defensive player, in this case Frank Clark, has never really worked before. Why would it work for the Chiefs?
What two teams offer more than fair odds to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy?
The L.A. Chargers at +1400 offer the best odds to win the Super Bowl. The Bolts look loaded this season. It starts with quarterback Philip Rivers. Like Drew Brees in New Orleans, Rivers has shown no signs of slowing down.
Rivers gets back a major target in 2019. Hunter Henry missed all of 2018. If he’s one-hundred percent this season, Rivers to Hunter should be one of the top combos in the league. Keenan Allen is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL while Melvin Gordon had his best season from a per carry average, 5.1 yards, during his career.
The defense is stacked. Don’t sleep on the Chargers.
Which two NFL teams offer odds much lower than they should to win Super Bowl LIV?
The Browns acquired Odell Beckham Jr. and everyone in Cleveland should be excited, but they offer the same odds that the L.A. Chargers offer to win Super Bowl LIV. Although having good players is always better than not having good players, everything must work together to win a Super Bowl.
The AFC is deep this season. The Patriots, Colts, and Steelers are led by experienced quarterbacks. Cleveland isn’t. Not only that, but those three teams have already had success while the Browns haven’t. Going from a team that missed the playoffs to a Super Bowl winner isn’t easy. The Browns might do it. But, you should wait until they offer better than +1400 if you like them.
