Best Picks for Week 8 NFL 2020
Down below, we will be going over some of the best picks to make through this exciting week of football!
New York Jets vs Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday 11/01 – 01:00 PM
The first game features the New York Jets once again, as they take on the reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Jets have been on here every single week this season and for anyone asking why, here’s the reason. They are just not a great football team.
Their coaching and management as been terrible for a few seasons now and they just have such little talent that they can’t compete with any team.
They also sit at 0-7 already on the season and have a legitimate shot at going 0-16 this year. Their offense is ranked 32nd in the league in average yards per game and their defense ranks 21st in the league.
To make matters even worse for them this week, they go up against MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes and company.
They have been on fire all season long, only losing one game so far this season. They also picked up star running back Le’Veon Bell after the Jets released him a few weeks ago, this could be a revenge game for Bell.
There really isn’t much else to say about this matchup, the Jets are the clear favorites to land the number one overall pick in this upcoming draft while the Chiefs are yet again Super Bowl favorites.
The Chiefs will win easily here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Giants
Next game up is an NFC battle between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants.
Tampa Bay is coming off of a 45-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in their last game.
Meanwhile, the Giants are 1-6 right now, after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in their last game 22-21.
The betting lines are already setting the Buccaneers as ten-point favorites in this matchup and it is easy to see why.
The Buccaneers have been forming more and more chemistry as the season goes on after they were able to pick up Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in free agency.
It was a bit of a rough start, but they are beginning to find their rhythm, as they look deadly on the offensive side of the ball with weapons like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Surprisingly though, their defense ranks third in the NFL right now and have been playing elite football on that side of the ball.
Their defense was supposed to be their weak spot and it has ended up being their strength which makes this team even more dangerous.
But the Giants have been downright awful all season long. They are the 31st ranked offense in the league and even went six quarters of football without scoring a touchdown.
It doesn’t help that they lost their superstar running back Saquon Barkley for the year with his torn ACL he suffered back in the early weeks of the season.
They have also suffered with injuries to Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram but they should all be ready to play for this game.
Their defense ranks in the middle of the pack so far this season but due to their horrific offense, it hasn’t really mattered at all.
This team just cannot score enough points to keep up with anybody, which is why the Buccaneers will dominate this game en route to their sixth win of the season.
Minnesota Vikings vs Green Bay Packers
Sunday 11/01 –
Lastly, we have a divisional clash between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.
The Vikings have struggled all season long after trading away their number one receiver Stefon Diggs.
They have been able to fill his spot in with upcoming star receiver Justin Jefferson, but their quarterback Kirk Cousins has hard a tough time finding a rhythm all year long.
Their offensive line has regressed greatly compared to last season and it has caused Cousins to be less cautious with the football, turning it over far too many times.
However, their only positive on the offensive side of the ball has been their rushing attack behind star Dalvin Cook. He has missed a few games this season but when he is healthy, he is able to completely carry this offense.
Unfortunately, their defense has taken a giant leap backwards compared to last season as well, as they have struggled to hold anybody all year long.
They have also faced with a few injuries on that side of the ball but are ultimately just out on the field for too long.
When that happens, fatigue will begin to set in and that spells disaster for a team that has struggled to score points.
They match up against a Packers team that dropped 43 points on them in the season opener this season.
Green Bay has only lost one game all season and it was a total collapse at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They bounced back nicely though, scoring 35 points on the way to their victory over the Houston Texans. Behind Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, this team will always be a threat to score 40 plus points.
Now that they have been able to get their star receiver Davante Adams back from his injury, this offense is now deadlier than ever.
Although, they might be without their star running back Aaron Jones for this matchup as he missed their last contest with an injury.
Green Bay should be able to make up for it with their defense though, that has had their fair share of struggles but is still a top unit in the NFL, with weapons like Kenny Clark and Jaire Alexander.
This defense will harass Cousins all game long and force him into multiple mistakes throwing the football.
This would be the worst-case scenario for the Vikings as it would cause their defense to be on the field for far longer than they should have too.
Leaving the high-powered Packers offense to go against a fatigued and tired defense.
This should all happen in this game, allowing the Packers to get yet another win this season.
