UEFA Champions League all set for August restart
- 2019-20 UEFA Champions League all set for August restart
- UK bookmakers list their Champions League bonuses in preparation.
There's a real possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo could face his old club Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final clash in August.
But for this to happen, both Real and Juventus will have to overturn their 1-2 and 0-1 deficits from the first leg ties of the Round of 16 clashes.
Champions League Restart 2020 Fixtures
Pep Guardiola's City look comfortably placed to make an entry in the Last-8 stages going into the second leg with a one-goal advantage at home at the Etihad stadium albeit behind closed doors
like all scheduled Round of 16 and Round of 8 clashes. Juventus will host Olympique Lyonnais at Turin after going down to the French club in the first leg by a solitary goal in Lyon.
If the Serie A champions were to be knocked out by Lyon, it would be Cristiano Ronaldo's first UCL Round of 16 exit in ten years.
Bayern Muncih and Barcelona look on course to meet each other in a mouth-watering quarter-final clash. While Bayern host a Chelsea side already down by 3 goals in the first leg, Barcelona and Napoli are tied at 1-1 with the former having the advantage of going into the second leg at home at Nou Camp.
Elsewhere, the Round-of-8 schedule will see RB Leipzig face Atletico Madrid, while debutants Atalanta are up against Paris Saint-Germain. Owing to the unprecedented stoppage brought upon by the global coronavirus pandemic, this season's quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played in the form of a straight knockout
tournament in the neutral venue of Lisbon, Portugal in August. All these ties will be single-leg fixtures unlike the traditional double-legged ones.
- The Man City – Real Madrid and the Juventus – Lyon Round of 16 fixtures will take place on August 7th.
- The Bayern Munich – Chelsea and Barcelona – Napoli Round of 16 clashes are scheduled for August 8th.
Elsewhere, in confirmed quarter-final draws, RB Leipzig face Atletico Madrid while debutantes Atalanta run into Paris Saint-Germain between dates August 12th to 16th.
- The semi-finals will be played on August 18th to 19th.
- The final will be played at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon on 23rd August.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are set to learn their fate over their involvement in next season's Champions League, with a decision on their appeal over their two-year ban expected next week.
City were handed a two-year suspension from European club competitions and a €30 million fine by UEFA in February after being found guilty of breaching financial fair play regulations.
