2020 Belarus Premier League preview:  Shakhtyor Soligorsk vs Neman Grodno – Stroitel Stadium, Soligorsk – 04th April 2020 – 13:30 BST

This Saturday's protagonists at the Stroitel Stadium, clubs Shakhtyor Soligorsk and Neman Grodno, have lost one game each but have emerged triumphant in one from just the 2 matches they each have played in the recently commenced Belarus Premier League (BPL).

Last season's 3rd placed Shakhtyor lost 0-1 at home to Torpedo-Belaz Zhordino who had finished in the sixth spot in 2019. Shakhtyor who had beaten Torpedo in the Belarus Cup just a month ago missed numerous opportunities to go ahead against the same opposition in the BSL opener ten days later but ended up on the losing side. Yurii Vernydub's m en made amends though, by beating Top ten outfit Gorodeya 0-2 in an away match a week later.

Neman Grodno much like Shakhtyor made a poor start to the season, losing to a formidable Isloch 0-1 away at Minsk but managed to bounce back with a 2-0 win at home against lower-half club FC Vitebsk. Gegam Kadymyan opened the scoring for the hosts when he smashed a loose ball into the roof of the net. Giorgi Kantaria doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Volodymyr Koval was fouled when trying to break loose.

For Shakhtyor, captain Aleksandr Gutor will be the man between the goal posts for April 4th’s game. Aleksandr Sachivko is expected to start in the central mid-field space with new signing Sergey Politevich. Midfielders Sergey Balanovich, Azdren Llullaku and Dmitri Podstrelov could also be expected to feature in the starting XI. Striker Darko Bodul who was substituted by Igor Ivanovic against Gorodeya should also hope to start against Neman. Left back Nikola Antic who suffered an injury in the Torpedo defeat on Matchday 1 coud see his place taken by Igor Burko.

For Neman, central mid-fielder Vladislav Yatskevich who was red-carded in the 0-1 loss to Isloch will obviously miss April 4th's game. In his place, attacking Serbian mid-fielder Zoran Marusic is expected to start.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk have a healthy record of 37 wins and 10 draws in their 60 encounters against Neyman. Shakhtyor have won their last four matches against the team from Grodno with score lines of 1-0, 1-0, 3-0 and 6-0.  They are traditionally strong at home, winning 22 of their last 27 matches and 7 of their last 9 fixtures there.

They are 1.40 favourites to win on Saturday (Bet365)

For Neman Grodno the odds to win are 7.50 (Bet365) while a draw is going at 4.00.

Bet365 odds subject to change and were correct as of 01/04/2020.

But after last week's shock victory by Slavia Mozyr over BATE Borisov, one shouldn't write away Neman Grodno by any means.

Slavia Mozyr had beaten BATE on just one occassion in 12 encounters before March 28th's 2-1 win over the BPL 2019 runners-up.
