Sevilla v Manchester United Preview

Manchester United progressed to the semi-finals of the 2019-20 Europa Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Copenhagen.

Their forthcoming opponents Sevilla too marked their entry into the Final four with a similar margin over Wolverhampton.

Both United and Sevilla dominated the proceedings heavily despite their one-goal wins.

Julen Lopetegui’s side had as many as 18 shots on target while allowing the Wolves just one – a missed penalty.

Ever Banega was the pivot to many of Sevilla's moves including the one that produced a goal through Lucas Ocampos.

Both Ocampos and Youssef En-Nesyri will be expected to spearhead the Sevilla attack at Stadion Koln while Banega will hold the key to the midfield.

The defense comprising Jesus Navas, Jules Kounde, Diego Carlos and Sergio Reguilon will be expected to hold good at the back and deliver possibly a sixth consecutive clean sheet for Sevilla.

Five-time winners Sevilla are unbeaten in 19 games across all competitions. The La Liga outfit were tireless and energetic even when they didn't have possession, pressing from the front and forcing Wolves to commit errors – a quality that makes them such a hard team to face.

Sevilla's expected line-up:

Bonou (goal), Kounde, Navas, Carlos, Reguilon, Ocampos, Banega, Moreno, Fernando, Suso, En-Nesyri.

On the other hand, Gunnar Ole Solskjaer will stick to his front four combination of Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford that has delivered good results of late.

Paul Pogba will start in midfield, but Nemanja Matic could come in for Fred after the Brazilian looked jaded against Copenhagen.

Aaron-Wan Bissaka, Brandon Williams and Harry Maguire are likely to start in the defense and Victor Lindelof may just move back in to replace Eric Bailley.

As for his goalkeeper, Solskjaer will probably go with Sergio Romero, given David de Gea's disastrous form of late.

Romero (goal), Bailly, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Pogba, Fred, Fernandes, Martial, Rashford, Greenwood.

The Red Devils have not been able to win in their previous two encounters with Sevilla.

In a 2-legged Europa League Round of 16 tie back in 2018, the teams drew 0-0 in Spain before Sevilla ekked out an impressive 2-1 win at Old Trafford to eliminate United.

Solskjaer's men will be no pushovers but there were signs of fatigue in the extra-time win over Copenhagen, with the extended campaign potentially catching up with some of key players.

A tight affair is expected in Germany, but Sevilla just seem to be on a higher level at the moment and indeed look the favourites. But online bookmakers seem to be wagering on United to progress to the finals.
