RB Leipzig will desperately want to get back to winnings after resuming the 2019-20 Bundesliga season with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against SC Freiburg.

This was their third draw in a row after the ones against Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg just before the pandemic close in March.

Die Roten Bullen clearly lost at least four easy points that would have put them close to league toppers Bayern Munich and in sight of the title.

As a result of these hiccups, Julian Nagelsmann's men find themselves in the fourth spot and the point gap with Bayern widening to as much as seven.

Mainz 05 aren't exactly on a roll and have managed just one win from their last five Bundesliga outings.

Their last fixture was a 2-2 away draw to FC Koln in which they showed fighting qualities in coming back from being 0-2 down to equalize through goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Pierre Kunde.

The draw kept them on the 15th spot in the table and four points above the relegation play-off position currently occupied by Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Rouven Schroder's men will not have fond memories of their previous clash with Leipzig in early November when they were pulverized 0-8 with a hat-trick coming from the boots of Timo Werner.

Leipzig and German international star Werner will be there to torment the Mainz defense once again at the Opel Arena on Sunday. Werner will have the likes of Yussuf Poulsen, Angelino, Kevin Kampl, Patrik Schick and Marcell Sabitzer to give him able company upfront.

Mainz will look to Robin Quaison to gives them goals at the Red Bull Arena. The 26-year old Swedish forward has alone accounted for one-third of the 36 goals the club has scored in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season. Karim Onisiwo, Levin Oztunali and Jean-Paul Boetius are some more players one can watch out for in the Mainz side.

Both clubs being in desperate need of a win, Sunday's game could be an exciting affair and full of goals on either side with seven previous meetings between these two witnessing over 2.5 goals.

Leipzig have a favorable history against Mainz having won 4 out of their 7 encounters since 2016.

Die Nullfunfer's only win was a 3-0 at home in 2018.

UK Bookmakers Bundesliga odds are expecting the visitors to the Opel Arena to take 3 points on May 24th as odds suggest.
