Can Solskjaer lead Man United to top-four finish? 10/1 says he can

Latest Solskjaer and Man United news and odds

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as interim Manchester United manager has sparked a flurry of interest on the Coral trading floor regarding Red Devils specials.

United are involved in three competitions in the New Year, with the FA Cup deemed their most likely chance of success. Solskjaer won the famous old pot twice as a player and he’s now 7/1 to do it as a manager.

An unlikely Champions League triumph is priced at 33/1, while the Coral traders go 10/1 about the Red Devils finishing in the top-four. They’re currently 11 points off Chelsea in fourth, but with a winnable run of matches coming up, that price is liable to change.

It’s 13/2 that he guides the club to ANY trophy this season, while 2/1 says he’s still in charge at Old Trafford on the first day of the 2019-20 season. Mauricio Pochettino at 3/1 is the next most likely name, ahead of Zinedine Zidane at 4/1.

Comment and odds

“Although Solskjaer has been handed a contract until the end of the season, the Norwegian is the new favourite to be in charge of the club for the opening game of the 2019/2020 Premier League campaign. Therefore he could be around for much longer than this initially suggests,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Mauricio Pochettino’s odds have also been cut to take over next season as many punters feel as though United will have the current Tottenham boss as their number one target in the summer,” added Hill.
