Bundesliga Preview: Bayern Munich must return to winning ways and quickly
Updated: 20/11/2024
Odds and preview of Bundesliga Matchday 21
Bayern Munich lost ground on league-leaders Borussia Dortmund after falling to a 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.
It’s left the reigning champions seven points off top-spot.
But their home tie with Schalke on Saturday could provide the spark they need to really heap the pressure on.
We will also look at Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Hoffenheim, as well as Thorgan Hazard’s Borussia Monchengladbach and their clash with Hertha Berlin.
As we embark on yet another busy Bundesliga weekend, we take you through all the odds you need…
Bayern Munich v Schalke 04 (Saturday 5:30pm BT Sport 3)
Bayern bounced back from defeat to Leverkusen with a win over Hertha in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday night.
But their focus will be usurping BVB at the top of the league. They are 2/9 to bag vital win and you can find the home side to win to nil at 23/20.
Serge Gnabry bagged a brace in the victory over Hertha, he’s at 5/4 to strike anytime.
Leon Goretzka has been a shining light in a topsy-turvy season and is 7/5 to grab a goal against his former side at any point.
Schalke finished second in the league last season and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
The Gelsenkirchen club are 10/3 on the win/draw double chance. The match to see Over 3.5 goals is 19/20.
Borussia Dortmund v Hoffenheim (Saturday 2.30pm)
Dortmund can put a massive ten points between themselves and Bayern before the Bavarians play later in the day.
They are 4/6 to score the win that could really weigh heavy on Niko Kovac’s men.
Hoffenheim won’t lie down here, it’s just not how they play under Julian Nagelsmann.
The outbound coach will set his side up to pounce on any weakness that Die Borussen show.
The away side are 17/5 for victory. BVB boss Lucien Favre will hope Jadon Sancho is back from illness – especially after Marco Reus got injured in midweek.
They’re 1/5 on the double chance to get past this test without a loss.
If so, surely Dortmund at 8/11 won’t let the league slip through their fingers?
Best of the rest
Saturday is all about the top-half of the table as fourth-place meets fifth when RB Leipzig host Frankfurt.
This game just screams goals, with the home side bagging in four of their last five Bundesliga outings.
And with the visitors scoring in their last three fixtures, both teams to score is 4/7.
Keep an eye out for Emile Smith-Rowe making his Bundesliga debut in this one.
Elsewhere, Gladbach meet Hertha, with the home side hoping to move clear in second place.
Gladbach have lost just once in their last seven games and are 8/13 to pick up another win on Saturday.
