With four losses in five league games, Bournemouth are in desperate need of star striker Callum Wilson.
Before he picked up an injury in Gameweek 23, the Cherries forward had 10 goals and 8 assists in 21 appearances and ranked among the Fantasy Premier League‘s highest scorers.
He has sat out the club’s last six league fixtures, but now the deadly striker could be set to return for the crucial final quarter of the season.
Will Wilson return in Gameweek 30?
Ahead of Bournemouth’s 1-0 defeat to Man City, Eddie Howe provided a promise update on Wilson’s fitness.
“Callum has been making good progress,” Howe said. “Injury-wise he’s fine, it’s just building up his fitness. So, we’ll have to make a late call on him.”
Wilson didn’t feature against Manchester City, but it is possible that Howe was reluctant to risk the attacker for a game when a defensive mindset was required.
Though there is no guarantee that Wilson will return in Gameweek 30, it sounds likely that he could be set to play some part against Huddersfield Town, but will likely not be risked for the full 90 minutes.
Should I bring him into my FPL side?
It’s a gamble, but yes.
Bournemouth are one of 10 teams playing in Gameweek 31 and in Gameweek 30 they take on lowly Huddersfield who have won just one of their last six games.
Given Wilson’s outstanding consistency in the first half of the season we believe it’s worth investing in the forward, even if 90 minutes looks unlikely.
Alternative strikers
Not confident in Wilson’s fitness? Try one of these in-form strikers instead:
Raul Jimenez (£6.9m). Another week, another reminder that Raul Jimenez is a must-own player. With 49 points in seven games, the Mexican is on fire.
Salomon Rondon (£5.9m). With Miguel Almiron providing some much needed spark to the Magpies’ attacking midfield, Rondon could be set to enjoy a great deal more service. Consider signing the striker ahead of Newcastle’s fixtures against Everton and Bournemouth.
Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m) has picked up an assist and two goals in his first four games for Crystal Palace. Don’t be surprised if the Belgian adds to his tally against Brighton in Gameweek 30.
i verdict
Updates on Wilson’s injury are thin on the ground, but judging by Howe’s most recent quotes last week the consistent goalscorer looks set to return against Huddersfield.
FPL managers should look to back the forward ahead of the Cherries’ winnable run of fixtures against the Terriers, Newcastle, Leicester, Burnley and Brighton.
