Richard Flint to leave role as Sky Betting & Gaming executive chairman

Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) has announced that Richard Flint, executive chairman and former CEO of the company, is to step down from his role at the end of June.

Flint has been with SB&G for 18 years and was CEO of the operator for ten years. In that time, he has helped make SB&G one of the UK’s most well-known and well-loved operators.

SB&G have stated that currently there is no replacement lined up for Flint’s executive chairman role.

Flint will move on to something “more entrepreneurial”. He has roles at the Yorkshire and Humber CBI, an advisory position for the Road World Cycling Championships, and is an investor for Butternut Box, an online company that sells dog food. Flint said he will split his time in the near future between these positions.

Flint said that the decision was a personal one and nothing directly to do with the gambling industry or any changes in regulation. He has no immediate plans to remain in the industry.

Speaking about the decision, Flint said he would miss the:

Flint leaves at an interesting time for the group. SB&G is currently beginning efforts to implement the Sky Bet model in the US via FoxBet. Flint said that he was tempted to lead this venture, but “didn’t want to move to the US”. He also praised Ted Moss, who is helping out with that venture, for his experience and capability in the role.

Sky Bet posted its most recent trading figures in March, showing revenue growth of 30%. The group experienced strong growth throughout 2018 in both financial and customer acquisition metrics.
