Updated: 19/11/2024

Each week the FantasyBet team publish a Bookies Advantage article to assist fantasy football managers with unbias data to inform their decision making and transfers.

Ahead of Gameweek 2, FantasyBet have generously created us a Bookie’s Dream Team using the data they’ve collected on clean sheets and anytime goalscorers.

The team is bound to a £100m budget like FPL, which means certain players have been ommited to ensure Financial Fair Play don’t come knocking.

The Bookies Dream Team For Gameweek 2

The defence is predominantly comprised of players from teams that the bookies think have the best chance of recording a clean sheet this gameweek. Arsenal (56%), Liverpool (49%), Chelsea (44%) and Everton (41%) all rank within the top five for implied clean sheets.

The defenders have also been chosen in accordance to their anytime goalscorer odds. The entire back-four feature in the bookies top 10 most likely defenders to score in GW2, with Everton full-back Lucas Digne (20%) heading the table.

Raheem Sterling (54%) & Mohammed Salah (50%) have higher implied odds to score than most forwards this week, so their inclusion was mandatory. Elsewhere, Richarlison is expected to upset his old fans with a 43% chance of scoring any time against Watford, whilst Reiss Nelson (38%) provides a cheap route in the Arsenal attack, valued just £5.5.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (57%) and Teemu Pukki (48%) lead the line, both looking to extend their tallies in favourable fixtures after getting off the mark in Gameweek 1.

If you’re opting for any of the aforementioned dream team players, why not make the weekend twice as exciting by also backing them on FansBet?

We’ve scanned the market and cherry picked our five favourite bets. Here’s what we’re backing and why:

[16/5] Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Score First & Arsenal to Win

Aubameyang has met Burnley three times in the Premier League, scoring a brace in every meeting. Since Sean Dyche was appointed in October 2012, and after seven attempts and 15 goals conceded, Arsenal are the only club in England’s top flight he has never picked up a point against.

[7/5] Raheem Sterling to Score & Man City to Win

According to the bookies, Sterling has a higher probability of scoring (51.3%) in Gameweek 2 than Salah (45.5%). This is testament to his form and the fact he’s scored eight times in his last six fixtures. Man City have won the last three meetings at the Etihad, Sterling scoring four of their nine goals.

[17/4] Teemu Pukki to Score Last

The Finnish forward was one of the positives for Norwich as they lost 4-1 to Liverpool in the opening week. Van Dijk and Gomez struggled to track his relentless movement in and around the box and Pukki was eventually rewarded with a goal. We feel that the less mobile pairing of Lascelles and Schar will have an even harder time keeping him quiet.

[13/10] Liverpool win to zero

Adrian’s performance in the Super Cup, and not just the penalty shootout, was assured throughout and calms the fears of Liverpool’s defence suffering without the injured Alisson. It’s almost guaranteed that they’ll score, and they conceded just 22 goals in 2018/19.

Southampton vs Liverpool odds

[27/20] Richarlison to Score Any Time

Richarlison was knocking on the door in Gameweek 1 as Everton peppered the Crystal Palace goal with attempts before Schneiderlin was shown a second yellow. He will be desperate to convert, and the stage is set against his former employers after they conceded three versus Brighton.
