The North London derby is always a captivating fixture whatever the context appears to be, and we can all expect another enticing encounter when the two come to blows on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates in the last game of the weekend before the first international break of the season with points and bragging points on the line.

Tottenham have leapfrogged Arsenal as the best side in North London in recent years in terms of league finishes as well as reaching the Champions League final last season.

However, it’s a been a strange old start to the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and all avenues point towards an Arsenal win on Sunday.

A shock 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United last time out comes with the context of the club unsure of the futures of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen with the European transfer window still yet to close.

Spurs’ record in away fixtures versus Arsenal is also notably poor, having only won two of their 27 Premier League trips to the Emirates, and Highbury before it.

Pochettino’s men have only taken 15 points from their last 15 league games, which as you have probably seen going around the socials this week – is relegation form.

So is the safe money looks to be on an Arsenal victory which you can find at 2.35* on site.

Harry Kane put his August voodoo to bed last season and after bagging two goals against Aston Villa on the opening day you could be forgiven for thinking the England international would have been quids-in against Steve Bruce’s strugglers last Sunday.

However, the 26-year-old does love a North London derby, having score nine goals in this fixture in the past, a record only bettered by two other players.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been sharp out of the blocks in 2019/20 with two goals in the first three fixtures of the Premier League season, setting up a goal in the other (Lucas Torreira’s vs Liverpool).

Kane and Aubameyang both to score has been boosted up to 5.00* for this game which is certainly a market that catches the eye.

This fixture always provides the typical blood-and-thunder, high intensity bonanza that you expect from English derbies, and is perhaps one of the only derbies left that lives up to that tag.

It is also an occasion which has produced its fair amount of goals in recent times, most notably the 4-2 thriller at the Emirates in December last year.

The goals market makes for interesting reading with a repeat of that feat, over 5.5 standing at 7.50* while even over 4.5 at 4.20 is worth a note.

Another one of our fan boosts has Spurs to win and over 3.5 goals enhanced up to 7.00*.

Both these sides will have aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League by reaching the top four in the league, although a title challenge may be just out of reach at this moment in time considering the quality of Manchester City and Liverpool.

One of the main talking points ahead of the game will be whether Unai Emery will finally unleash his terrifying trident of Nicholas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette alongside Aubameyang up-front from the start for the first time.

If he does, what a game to do it in and with Tottenham having issues at right full-back at the moment with Kyle Walker-Peters injured and Serge Aurier out of sight and out of position, Emery must be licking his lips.

It’s too early in the season to make any lasting dispersions of any team but there will be a lot of questions to be asked of Tottenham Hotspur and mainly, Daniel Levy, should Arsenal prevail on Sunday.

The odds suggest those questions are about to be asked.
