Expert NFL Picks & Odds for Wild Card Weekend 2021

Updated: 20/03/2025

We have finally made it to the postseason after a dramatic 2020 NFL season that was filled with crazy twists and turns. Now, we look ahead towards Wild Card weekend and go over each of the upcoming games for this weekend along with our NFL picks for them. We start off in Buffalo as they face off against the Indianapolis Colts.

Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills

Saturday 01/09 – 01:05 PM

Expert NFL Picks & Odds for Wild Card Weekend 2021 - Buffalo BillsThe Colts have been able to march their way into the postseason with an 11-5 record but were unable to win their division. They snuck in as a wildcard team and are going to face off against the number two seed in the AFC in the Bills.

Indianapolis has been able to develop a dominant rushing attack that starts and ends with rookie running back Jonathan Taylor, who accumulated over 200 total yards in their last game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Once Taylor and Nyheim Hines start to get going, their passing attack led by Phillip Rivers start to hurt you downfield. They have a few great tight ends multiple receivers that can hurt you downfield and it makes this offense all the more dangerous.

Their opponents are very similar to the Colts on the offensive side of the ball. Buffalo has been outstanding through the air behind the MVP caliber season of Josh Allen and newly acquired receiver Stefon Diggs.

These two guys have formed a wonderful duo that has seemingly been unstoppable all season long and it has allowed their rushing attack to rip open big gains while the game starts to come to a close.

On the defensive side of the football, the Bills started out poorly but have since been getting healthier as well as improving as a unit throughout the year. This defense is one of the most talented in the league and they happen to have some of the fastest safeties in the league in Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.

For Indianapolis, they happen to own a top five defense in the league behind their star linebacker Darius Leonard and newly acquired defensive linemen Deforest Buckner. This defense has been a great unit all year long but will have their hands full with Allen and company this weekend in Buffalo.

This game is definitely going to be a very close game with the Colts having more playoff experience than Buffalo as of late.

However, the Bills have been so explosive all year long and have knocked off a few top teams in the league this year. They should be able to get some success against this Colts defense and win a close one to advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Saturday 01/09 – 04:40 PM

Expert NFL Picks & Odds for Wild Card Weekend 2021 - Seattle SeahawksThe Rams were recently defeated by the Seahawks a few games ago and had to sneak their way into the playoffs without their franchise quarterback Jared Goff as he hurt the thumb on his throwing hand during that game against Seattle.

This team is hopeful to get Goff back for this Wild Card matchup as they are going to be in a very bad position without their cornerstone player. However, they do still have a strong rushing attack behind their running back committee, Darrell Henderson, Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown.

Those three guys are going to need to generate some type of success against this revamped Seahawks defense. If that doesn’t work, they better hope that Goff can return to play and attempt to take some shots deep downfield to Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods to try and rally his team.

Bottom line is that this team is going to struggle quite a bit on the offensive side of the football against this surprisingly decent Seahawk defense that is fully healthy and starting to get themselves into a rhythm.

For Seattle, they got great success last game towards the end and were simply too much to handle offensively with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett stretching out their defense. The Rams have a lot of talent on the defensive side of the football with Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald, but Seattle had answers for them both a few weeks ago and should stick with that same game plan.

Earlier in the season I would have said that the Rams would dominate Seattle like they did before and take this game but after watching Seattle pummel Los Angeles a few weeks ago and the injury to Goff, I believe the Seahawks take a huge division win this weekend.

Washington's Odds to Win NFC East Improve to +250. Eagles Still favored, Dallas Fades to +460The Buccaneers have arguably the greatest roster ever compiled on paper but have struggled at times throughout the year. Their offense is led by a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Tom Brady and he has the perfect weapons for him at his disposal such as Rob Gronkowski, former all-pro Antonio Brown, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Not to mention the fact that they have a solid offensive line and three talented running backs to work with.

This offense is all around one of the best units in the league and to make matters even worse for whoever matches up with them is that their defense is also a top 10 unit in the league. They have playmakers on all three levels of the ball including rookie safety Antoine Winfield.

They also boast a top linebacker corps in the league with Devin White and Lavonte David roaming the middle of the field.

They go up against a team with equal firepower on the defensive side of the football in Washington. Washington only has a record of 7-9 on the year but happen to own the number one defense in the league behind their star rookie Chase Young.

Their defensive line is outstanding, and their secondary has played even better to further bolster a unit that is bound to harass and get after Brady this weekend.

However, Washington has had a ton of trouble on the offensive side of the ball but has begun to find some stability with veteran quarterback Alex Smith taking over to go along with Antonio Gibson returning from his injury. They need to get their playmakers involved in this game to put up points on offense such as Logan Thomas and Terry McLaurin or else they may struggle on offense throughout the game.

This game may not be as easy as it is set up to be as the game will be playing in Washington and not in Tampa Bay. Shockingly, I am going to take Washington in this game due to their incredible defensive play the last few weeks as they should be able to stonewall Brady and this elite squad of offensive talents.

Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans

Sunday 01/10 – 01:05 PM

Tennessee TitansThe Baltimore Ravens have turned their level of play up a notch towards the end of the season after being on the brink of elimination the past few weekends. Their offense is in good hands with dual threat quarterback Lamar Jackson leading the team.

Jackson was able to break 1,000 yards rushing to go along with over 3,000 yards passing this season and has been excellent yet again after winning the MVP last season. They have been able to get their playmakers involved lately with Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews making big play after big play.

They have also gotten great production out of running back JK Dobbins lately after Mark Ingram missed time due to injury. On defense they have talent all over the field with guys like Marlon Humphrey, Calais Campbell and Marcus Peters leading the charge.

However, they are going to have their hands full this week as they go up against the leading rushing this season and a top offense in the NFL in Derrick Henry and the Titans.

The Titans were able to defeat the Ravens in overtime earlier this season after a dominant performance from Henry in that game that saw him score multiple touchdowns. The Ravens better have a plan for him as he has another chance to explode for 200 plus yards and multiple touchdowns yet again.

If Baltimore lets him get going early on in this ball game, it could be a disaster for them as Ryan Tannehill would then get free passing lanes to throw towards in the secondary. Which brings me to the Titans biggest flaw, their defense.

They have zero pass rush, and it has resulted in horrific coverage downfield. This team has allowed their opponents to march up and down the field on them all season long and will need to make some adjustments before this matchup.

Bottom line, I believe the Titans will get the best of the Ravens for the third time in two seasons and pull away with a huge Wild Card victory behind a dominant rushing performance from Henry yet again.

Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints

Sunday 01/10 – 04:40 PM

New Orleans Saints NFL PicksEven though they aren’t in the same division this will be the second time these two teams meet up this season. New Orleans was able to get the best of the Bears in that game with an overtime victory.

This week should be a completely different story as the Bears have completely altered their team since the that last game.

Mitchell Trubisky is now in at quarterback for Chicago and Matt Nagy has officially given up his play calling duties, both moves have helped the Bears take a huge jump in offensive efficiency in recent weeks. Their defense has also been incredibly consistent for this team as they have generated a consistent pass rush and a sturdy secondary and linebacker corps to constantly make it difficult for their opponents to score on them.

But they face a tough task this weekend as the Saints should be getting back their star trio of players such as Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. The three of these players have only shared the field for a total of 10 quarters of football but that is bound to go up this after this game.

Their defense should also be getting back Chauncey Gardner Johnson after he was placed on the COVID list a few weeks ago. He has made a huge impact for this secondary and should give this team a giant boost if he is able to lace up the cleats and get out there.

Overall, this is going to be a very different games compared to the first one with the Bears likely putting up more points then they did last game with the same thing going for New Orleans. However, the Saints are one of the best and most experienced teams in the league and should be able to win this game barring any injuries to their star players.

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday 01/10 – 08:15 PM

Pittsburgh SteelersThis game marks the third time these two clubs face off this season with each of these teams picking up a win.

This is the first time that Cleveland has made the postseason in over 15 years and they were able to do it due to their fantastic running back duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Not to mention their star quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has tremendously increased his level of play after forming a closer connection to their new head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Although, their defense has been an issue all season long outside of Myles Garrett and they will need a great all-around performance from their secondary to avoid falling into a hole early on.

For Pittsburgh, they will need to stay focused and prepared to avoid getting upset by their division rivals who know them very well.

The Steelers have fallen into a small hole lately, losing four out of their last five games and not looking very good in any of them. However, they still have one of the most talented offenses in the league behind a stellar wide receiver corps and a great offensive line.

They also have a top five defense in the league when healthy with guys like Minkah Fitzpatrick and TJ Watt roaming the field.

This game is definitely going to come down to the wire and it ultimately coming down to which team wants it more. I believe Cleveland is going to give them everything they have but it is very hard to bet against the Steelers after they started this season 11-0.
