The Atlanta Braves are known to be potentially interested in trading for the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner when San Francisco officially makes him available this season – and the team will do that. The Braves get an up-close look at MadBum on Thursday afternoon. Bet on the game at our online sportsbook.

Why Bet on Atlanta?
Luke Jackson gave up three runs and took a blown save and a loss in the ninth Tuesday against the Giants. Jackson, who was asked to close out a 3-1 game, gave up four hits before he could get three outs. That might open the door for Sean Newcomb to get the next save chance for the Braves.
Starting center fielder Ender Inciarte (back) hasn’t started any baseball activities. Inciarte was placed on the injured list last Wednesday with a lumbar strain and Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters this week that the team won’t rush the rehab process. The center fielder figures to remain sidelined until sometime in early-to-mid June. Ronald Acuna will likely continue to play center for Atlanta, with power-hitting prospect Austin Riley getting every-day action in left. Riley has been killing the ball since being called up.
Kevin Gausman (2-3) allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks across six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Saturday. The right-hander yielded two runs in the first inning but then really only ran into trouble in one of his final five frames. That trouble came in the third, but Gausman worked out of a bases-loaded jam. He didn’t get the win but improved most of his other numbers — 4.31 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 48 innings this season.
Gausman labored early, then retired 12 of the last 13 Brewers he faced Saturday. The veteran will be starting on regular rest again after serving a suspension for throwing behind Miami’s Jose Urena earlier this month.

Why Bet on San Francisco?
The Giants have put lefty reliever Travis Bergen on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain. Bergen, a Rule 5 Draft pick from the Blue Jays back in December, has posted a 4.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 15/7 K/BB ratio in 17 innings. The team recalled infielder Donovan Solano from Triple-A to take his spot. San Francisco’s bullpen has combined for a 3.57 ERA, which ranks as the second-best in the National League.
On Tuesday, the Giants rallied for a 4-3 win over the Braves. It was San Francisco’s third walk-off win of the year and first since May 1. Joe Panik recorded his second career walk-off hit. In addition, Pablo Sandoval had a pinch-hit in the ninth inning and is hitting a robust .400 as a pinch-hitter this year in 25 at-bats.
Brandon Belt owns a 1.070 OPS against the Braves since the 2015 season. That’s the second-highest figure among all players behind Colorado’s Trevor Story (1.320 OPS).
The Giants’ Madison Bumgarner (3-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings in an 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Bumgarner pitched well on the night until running into trouble in the seventh inning. He finished with 105 pitches. Bumgarner has a 4.21 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 10 starts this year, adding 64 strikeouts in his 62 innings.
Bumgarner has a 4.21 ERA through 10 starts. He has never finished with an ERA above 3.37 in the previous 10 seasons. Against the Braves, the left-handed ace is 7-3 with a 2.71 ERA in 12 career starts, but he hasn’t faced them since 2016.
On April 13, Bumgarner logged 7.0 innings as the Giants defeated the Rockies, 5-2. Since then, no Giants starter has pitched as long as 7.0 innings, that’s 30 consecutive games in which SF’s starter has not logged at least 7.0 frames – that’s the longest such streak in MLB this year and the longest streak by the Giants in the last 100 years.
