Which driver among Newgarden, Power, Rossi, Pagenaud, and Dixon has the best shot of winning the 2019 Indy 500?

The last Indy Racing League event took place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 11. Simon Pagenaud won the race. Pagenaud’s been in excellent form. He’s finished in the Top 10 in 5 of the past 6 events.

Pagenaud deserves a long look as a driver that could win on Sunday. However, he might not be the best pick. The best pick among the favorites could be Scott Dixon.

Dixon has been on fire in the past 6 races. He finished thirteenth at the Circuit of Americas. However, outside of that finish, he scored a second in St. Petersburg on March 10. He also finished second in Alabama on April 7 and second in Indianapolis on May 11. The third place finish in Long Beach on April 14 was also great.

In 2018, Dixon finished third in the Indianapolis 500 behind Will Power and Ed Carpenter. He has yet to win this year, but he’s due. At the odds, he might be the favorite to back.

Which driver between +1000 and +2000 odds can win the race on Sunday?

Ed Carpenter doesn’t offer much better odds than the favorites at +1100. There’s a lot to like about his chances, though. He finished second at the 2018 Indianapolis 500. Not only that, but he’s the only owner/driver in the Indy Racing League.

He almost won the pole over Pagenaud for Sunday’s race. Carpenter should put his best foot forward on May 26. He’s definitely worth considering at the odds.

Is there a driver between +2500 and +5000 odds that can win the 2019 Indy 500?

Felix Rosenqvist offers +5000 odds to win the Indianapolis 500. The odds aren’t a true reflection of his chances. Rosenqvist finished eighth at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 11. Not only that, but he has 4 Top 10 finishes in the last 5 Indy Car events. He deserves a long look.

Conor Daly at +5000 also deserves mentioning. Daly will start Sunday’s race eleventh. If Daly gets into the race right away, who knows? He could be in a great striking position to pull off the upset.

What two drivers not listed can take the checkered flag on May 26?

Matheus (Matt) Leist at +10000 has a puncher’s chance of taking the checkered flag. Leist starts twenty-fourth on Sunday. But, he finished fourth at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 11. If Leist can get into a good position and then maintain, or slowly make his way up throughout the race, he’ll give his backers a thrill at massive odds.

If you’re looking to back a 5-digit longshot, Matheus Leist could be your guy.
