2019 Big 3 Basketball Week 1 Odds, Preview & Picks
- When: Sunday, June 30 at 5:00 PM ET
- Where: Liacouras Center, Philadelphia, PA
- Live Stream: CBSSports.com
Ghost Ballers (1-0) vs. Bivouac (1-0)
Coached by the legendary George ‘Iceman’ Gervin, Ghost Ballers is captained by Mike Bibby and co-captained by Ricky Davis and Carlos Boozer. Jamario Moon, Alex Scales and Mike Taylor round out the roster. Ghost Ballers smacked the Ball Hogs around in their opener 50-39 as Moon scored a team-high 20 points and Taylor added 15 points.
Biouvac is coached by Reggie Theus and features a roster of captain Josh Smith, co-captains Will Bynum and Anthony Morrow as well as Shawne Williams. C.J. Leslie and Dion Glover. Biouvac jumped all over Enemies in week 1 to win 50-43 as Bynum scored a team-high 22 points and Morrow added 16 points.
Prediction
I’m going with Ghost Ballers in Week 2 simply because Jamario Moon should be able to have his way against a smaller Biouvac team. Well, there’s that and the fact that the Ghost Ballers allowed just 39 points in their opener.
Pick: Ghost Ballers 50 Biouvac 48
3 Headed Monsters (1-0) vs. Aliens (0-1)
3 Headed Monsters is coached by NBA Hall of Famer Gary ‘The Glove’ Payton and is captained by former Seattle Seahawks teammate Rashard Lewis while being co-captained by Reggie Evans and one of my favorite point guards, Mahmoud Abdul-Raouf. Larry sanders, Tre Simmons and Mario Chalmers round out the roster. 3 Headed Monster prevailed over Trilogy in Week 1 as Evans scored a game-high 22 points and Lewis added 18 points as well.
Aliens is coached by a player I love even more than GP in the legendary Nate ‘Tiny’ Archibald. Aliens is captained by Andrew Owens and co-captained by Shannon Brown and Brandon Rush with Greg Oden, Robert Vaden and Ryan Hollins all on the roster as well. Aliens ended up on the wrong end of a humbling 50-40 loss to Triplets as Brandon Rush and Andre Owens scored a modest 13 and 11 points respectively.
Prediction
This call is as easy as pie. There is no one on Aliens roster capable of keeping up0 with Rashard Lewis who, ironically, would be a perfect stretch four in today’s NBA.
Pick: 3 Headed Monsters 50 Aliens 42
Power (1-0) vs. Tri-State (0-1)
Power is coached by living legend Nancy Lieberman and captained by Corey Maggette. Cuttino Mobley and Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis are the co-captains with Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen, Quentin Richardson and Ryan Gomes filling out the rest of the roster. Power spanked 3’2 Company in their opener 50-38 as my Philly homeboy Cuttino Mobley scored a game-high 28 points while draining five three-pointers.
Tri-State is coached by my guy, Julius ‘Dr. J.’ Erving and captained by Jermaine O’Neal and co-captained by Amar’e Stoudemire and Nate Robinson. Yakhouba Diawara, Jason Richardson and Bonzi Wells fill out the roster. Tri-State suffered a heartbreaking 54-52 loss in their opener despite getting 26 points from Stoudemire and 17 points from Richardson.
Prediction
I’m going with Power simply because Cuttino Mobley looked like he could still easily play in the NBA in Week 1 and no other player in this contest has that look or feel to their respective games. I’m sick to my stomach going against Dr. J, but Nancy Lieberman’s squad has got this one!
Pick: Power 50 Tri-State 44
