[fcrp_feat_sc sc_id=”22204″]Wonderful is a horse of some potential
14: 30- Just Wonderful
We have a couple of good fillies in here. I was pretty taken with Just Wonderful when I won on her at the Curragh over this trip on fast ground, and the placed horses have both won since. In fact, the third, Gossamer Wings, was only just touched off here on Wednesday .
She could be a filly going places but, as it stands, Fairyland is the better horse I guess. She was very impressive when winning the Marble Hill last time- I had a good view as I rode the second, Van Beethoven- and she is probably the standard-setter on that performance. But Just Wonderful is a filly of some potential; she quickened up really well before get a bit tired late on at the Curragh .
Class drop devotes us chances in tight race
15: 05- Delano Roosevelt
He shaped really well when simply touched off in the Ballysax and Derrinstown and, although beaten a fair way, I think you had to be fairly satisfied with his sixth in the Derby. He steps down in class here and probably just about comes into this race as the kind horse, so I expect a good present, It's a very tight race though, and you can make a fair example for our other two in here, as well as a couple of others .
It will take a very good horse to get the better of Nation
15: 40- Sioux Nation
This looks a very deep race, and it is certainly a massive field. I liked Invincible Army when I won on him here earlier in the season and I know that they believe Equilateral will just about win this. The sort of his Doncaster win has worked out really well but it is a fair step up from novice company to a Group 1, and he doesn't have much in the way of experience .
He will have to be a serious Group 1 horse to win this, too, because I believe Sioux Nation has a massive chance. He won the Norfolk here last season and I thought he was seriously impressive when beating Fleet Review at Naas last day. He carried a penalty there and was beating a Middle Park runner-up. It will take a very good horse to beat him if he as good as I think he is but, by the same token, this will take some winning .
We can put up a fight to the three Guineas winners
16: 20- Clemmie
This will take a lot of winning with the winners of the English, Irish and French Guineas in here- and there is very little to split that trio- but my filly is right up there with them if she reproduces her juvenile best. That is not a dedicated, as she was beaten a fair way behind Alpha Centauri at the Curragh last time .
But we knew going into the race that she would need the race pretty badly there, and the race has apparently brought her on a good deal. Whether or not this comes too soon for her, too- especially in such a good race- we shall find, but she was the leading juvenile filly last season, is at home on fast ground, and I don't think she will be disgraced .
Quick ground ideal for experienced filly
17: 00- Hence
She is a filly with a fair bit of experience, which will stand her in good stead here, and she ran a career-best when winning a Curragh 1m disability on her first start on fast ground last time. She has gone up 6lb for that win, but that is fair enough- she quickened up well when she got a gap there- and this race has been the plan for a while. She is bred for the job, too, being a sister to some good horses , notably the three-time Group 1 winner Alice Springs. She loved quick ground, and this filly does, too .
A bit of luck needed from lowly draw
17: 35- Clear Skies
She improved a lot on the all-weather at Dundalk, has run three decent races on turf of late. She probably wasn't far off her best when merely touched off at Gowran last day, and the step back up to 1m4f will suit her as well. I wouldn't say her mark of 105 is generous but hopefully it shouldn't stop her being competitive. She will need luck from her draw in two .
