Ms Parfois ruled out of Aintree meeting

Updated: 18/09/2024

Connections of Ms Parfois have confirmed she will now miss the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree after a slight setback in the last few weeks.

Trainer Anthony Honeyball had been worried about the ground as well but he was hoping his charge would have been fit to compete in Saturday’s big race on Merseyside.

However, Ms Parfois has fallen victim to a poisoned foot and although not serious, Honeyball is happy to rest her for another day.

He told reporters: “She’s not running – it’s a combination of factors.

“She’s not quite right. She’s had a poisoned foot and is not sound today. We could probably get her right – but she’s not where we want her to be at the minute.

“The main issue with her would be the ground. There’s no rain in sight. I’m sure it would be lovely, safe ground – but with her we want to be running on soft, good to soft, or softer.

“It’s another £1700 to confirm her today, and we can’t justify it. It’s a real shame.”

Ms Parfois was 25/1 in the ante-post betting but Tiger Roll remains the 7/2 favourite for the steeplechase.

Rathvindent is then his closest rival at odds of 10/1, while Anibale Fly tops the weights and remains a bet at 11/1.

Ms Parfois will now rest up before potentially returning in time for the Welsh Grand National in December. Honeyball still has an entry in Regal Encore and can be backed at 66/1.

Odds subject to change.
