Cheltenham Festival 2019 Ante Postcast: Champion Chase | Stayers’ Hurdle - (2025)

Updated: 05/12/2025
Dave Orton, Tom Segal, Nick Watts and Bet365's Darren Hughes return with an ante-post look at the Cheltenham Festival 2019. This week the team look at the best bets for the Queen Mother Champion Chase and Stayers' Hurdle.
– On today's 2019 Cheltenham Festival ante-post #Postcast, the team give a horse-by-horse preview of the Queen Mother Champion Chase, where Altior is odds-on favourite – can Tom, Nick and Darren find some value in the without market?
– Meanwhile, Min, Sceau Royal and Saint Calvados all look like solid picks for their prices, while Simply Ned's heroics this season are tempting some of the panel.
– We also look at a wide-open Stayers' Hurdle, where Apple's Jade is favourite but doubts remain on her likely destination.
– The team assess the chances of Penhill, Supasundae and Faugheen and deliver their picks from the middle of the market.
All prices can be found at
Next week: Ryanair Chase, Ballymore and Supreme Novice Hurdle

how can segal say that min is not a good bet at 5/2 without altior and nrnb. he just tipped him 6/1 with altior e/w. If min is miles better than the rest then 5/2 without nrnb is great.
on decent ground, only Sceau Royal can give Altior a run, and a lively outsider for the stayers hurdle is Thomas Campbell, currently 100/1 with William Hills.
Think there's a lot of arrogance about Altior here. The presenters seem to have forgotten that Douvan went off 1/7 to win the 2017 Champion Chase and was well beaten by Special Tiara. Nothing is certain in racing
Lay whatever Segal tips and you’ll be in the money
Bachason @ 25/1 ew
Can faugheen win stayers?? Would be the best story of the whole festival… this horse should've won 3 champion hurdles but got injured… buverdair is not in faugheen's league… faugheen is old now and had setbacks… he deserves to win again more then any other horse
Lol sceau royale no were near min altio r and in de sceaux
Altior is miles better then that lot.
Min will go Ryanair
Why are they not consdiering Min for the champion hurdle. Has form with Buveur dair from the supreme???
