Racing manager Anthony Bromley says Call Me Lord (15/2 – Imperial Cup Outright) could race at next week’s Cheltenham Festival if he puts in a strong performance in the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday.

Call Me Lord heads to Surrey this weekend looking to continue his fine run of form at the track, having won on three of his four starts at Sandown – the most recent of those victories coming in the Select Hurdle in April 2018.

The six-year-old, who finished a disappointing seventh at Ascot in the JLT Hurdle last time out, carries top weight for the race at 11st 12lb and is giving upwards of a stone to each of his rivals.

It will be a tough challenge for the Nicky Henderson-trained charge but there are plenty of incentives on offer, none more than the opportunity to race at Prestbury Park next week.

If Call Me Lord manages to triumph on Saturday, connections would net a £100,000 bonus if they can match that result in any race at next week’s Cheltenham Festival.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s race and the possibility of heading to Cheltenham next week, racing manager Bromley said: “Nicky says he has taken a while to come to hand this spring and he is just starting to come right now.

“I hope Call Me Lord will put up a good show and if he was lucky enough to win, we would consider going for the bonus at Cheltenham next week in either the Coral Cup or the County Hurdle.”

Call Me Lord is currently 20/1 to win the Coral Cup, while he is 16/1 to claim all the spoils in the County Hurdle.

Odds subject to change.
