The Shergar Cup takes centre stage this Saturday with four races from the team event at Ascot and two from Haydock – with all six races live on ITV4.

We start in the Shergar Cup Stayers’ and Billy Ray can go one better than his solid second at Newbury in a big handicap last time out. That is the best recent form in this race, and he has the services of Danny Tudhope after his four winners at the Royal meeting.

Up at Haydock and a chance is taken with Al Erayg in the day’s biggest field. He is usually held up but the draw in stall 2 may force Colm O’Donoghue’s hand to go forward and this ex-French racer is well handicapped on his form earlier in the year, with cheekpieces tried for the first time.

Back to Ascot and Indianapolis has caught the eye a couple of times this season and is in slightly calmer waters here. He was a staying on sixth in a hot York handicap then fourth in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock and is another for which the cheekpieces are enlisted for the first time.

Felciana De Vega impressed on debut on soft ground at Newmarket last season, dominated a French Listed contest over Christmas, and can take further listed honours on her return to action under Harry Bentley at Haydock.

Another Batt has run two crackers at Ascot recently, when fourth in the Balmoral in October and sixth in the International a fortnight ago, and runs here off a lower mark than for both of those efforts. He also won in Meydan in January and can score off top weight in the Mile contest.

Finally, Sapa Inca bumped into one at Goodwood last week, but had a highly-regarded sort right in behind and can provide last year’s Silver Saddle heroine Hayley Turner with a victory in the final contest.
