Paul Casey is determined to achieve his goal of winning in Los Angeles at this week’s Genesis Open at the Riviera Golf Club after he just missed out on the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Casey 30/1 – Genesis Open Outright).

The 41-year-old Englishman looked on course to enjoy some success in California last weekend when he went into the final round at Pebble Beach boasting a three-shot lead.

However, a disappointing closing 71 opened the door for Phil Mickelson to snatch the title with a 65, as he ended up three strokes clear of Casey in second.

Casey has had little time to dwell on his inability to remain out in front, with his first round in LA coming up on Thursday (10/11 Casey – Casey/Harman/Tway – 1st Round 3 Balls).

He has every reason to be positive, having played some good golf throughout the weekend at Pebble Beach on the back of a tie for second place at the Singapore Open on the Japan Tour.

The Englishman’s previous best record at the Genesis Open came four years ago when he went into a playoff (11/4 – Yes – Will There Be A Playoff in 2019?) with Dustin Johnson and eventual winner James Hahn, but he was eliminated on the second playoff hole.

However, he is hoping to finally go one better this week and end his wait for some success in Los Angeles.

Odds subject to change.
