22 year-old Swede wins Betfred British Masters

Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult keeps his nerve to clinch a thrilling victory at Hillside

A richly-deserved maiden Tour win was Marcus Kinhult’s reward, as a last-green birdie took him to a slender one-shot triumph over Eddie Pepperell, Robert MacIntyre, and Matt Wallace.

Brilliant host Tommy Fleetwood couldn’t quite maintain his own personal challenge for the title, but finished a highly-respectable 8th at -10, six shots off the yound Swede.

Ryder Cup star Martin Kaymer shot a superb 66 to tie with Tommy in 8th, and Pepperell’s final round 66 so nearly enabled him to succesfully defend his title. Wallace was also particularly impressive all week, but couldn’t quite match the magic of that opening round 65.

An amazing week, and a fittingly-thrilling final few holes, in, finally, Southport’s absolutely glorious sunshine.
