Liverpool will not want to miss the opportunity of scoring three points at Anfield on Wednesday night when they play Serbian club Red Star Belgrade in a Group C clash of the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds' visit to Italy earlier in the month didn't end well with Napoli getting a late winner leaving the Mersey side club with three points on the table from two games.

Coach Jurgen Klopp is presently staring at some serious injury issues with both Naby Keita and Sadio Mane having missed the weekend Premier League clash against Huddersfield Town. In fact, Keita's hamstring injury rules him out for a couple of weeks at least which means he will miss Wednesday's Anfiled clash.

Sadio Mane, suffering from a broken thumb is undergoing medication and expected to recover for the mid-week game.

Klopp will probably maintain a 4-3-3 formation as he did in the Huddersfield game, but probably Adam Lallana who was part of the attacking trio along with Mohamed Salah and Firminio will have to give way to Mane once the Senegalese striker returns.

Lallana will most likely start on Wednesday in place of Xherdan Shaqiri in the winger's role. The back-line of Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Robertson could see a minor change.

Trent Alexander-Arnold who was rested for the Huddersfield game could come in for Andrew Robertson.

The Liverpool attack has been surprisingly muted of late, finding the back of the net just thrice from their last four games in all forms of competition.

Salah got his fourth goal of the season against Huddersfield, ending a five-match drought while the prolific Firminio has only three to his name from as many as 11 outings so far.

The Serbian visitors’ last European outing ended in a 1-6 bloodbath at the hands of Paris St Germain, away at the Parc des Princes stadium.

Red Star Belgrade, though, have an impressive domestic effort to show, heading the Serbian SuperLiga with 34 points from 12 games, a clear 7 points ahead of next-best Radnicki Nis.

For Red Star, Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom is expected to feature at Anfield after having missed out in the October 3 game against PSG owing to injury.

Richmond Boakye with 5 goals in the 2018-19 season is the club's top scorer and is expected to spearhead the visitors' attack along with Milan Pavkov and Ben.

The Serbian champions' European sojourn has been a disaster so far with a draw at home against Napoli followed by the huge defeat to PSG thus landing them at the bottom of the Group C table.

The bad news for Red Star fans wanting to take the trip to England is that they have been banned by the UEFA as punishment for a pitch invasion in August's Champions League qualifiers vs. RB Salzburg.

There is no playing history to go by between these two, but the odds are on the hosts to take Wednesday night's match at Anfield comfortably.
