Bernardo Silva feels Manchester City must develop the habit of successfully defending trophies season after season (Man City 12/1 – To win quadruple).

The Citizens remain on course to challenge for an unprecedented quadruple this term after they secured a 3-2 away victory over Schalke during the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.

Indeed, City will wrap up the first of those trophies if they beat Chelsea in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final and they will fancy their chances of doing just that following their victory in the competition 12 months ago (To lift the trophy – Man City 2/7, Chelsea 5/2).

Pep Guardiola’s side are also well placed to defend the Premier League title they won last season and Portugal international Silva feels it is imperative they develop a knack for not just winning trophies once, but also successfully defending them.

“That is one of our main goals – not only winning it once but to keep winning and winning,” said Silva. “We know we have the squad to do that but our opponents are very strong and it won’t be an easy job. We will do our best to try.”

Sunday’s cup final will also come exactly two weeks after City thrashed Chelsea 6-0 in the Premier League, but Silva, who played the full 90 minutes of that contest, feels that result will have no bearing on the match at Wembley.

“To be honest we should forget that match because it won’t happen again. We are not expecting the same result,” he added. “We are playing against one of the best sides in the world, even though lately their results are not the best for them.”

Odds subject to change.
