Silva issues complacency warning – Betfred Blog - (2025)

Bernardo Silva has warned his Manchester City teammates to expect a “difficult game” at Brighton on Sunday as they seek a win to secure a second consecutive Premier League title (Brighton 16/1, Manchester City 1/7, Draw 13/2 – Match Result).
Pep Guardiola’s side moved one point clear of second-placed Liverpool with just the final round of fixtures to be played when they defeated Leicester 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Monday, courtesy of skipper Vincent Kompany’s 30-yard piledriver.
It means City will be crowned champions on Sunday if they win or match Liverpool’s result as Jurgen Klopp’s side prepare to face Wolves in front of their own fans at Anfield (Liverpool 3/10, Wolves 17/2, Draw 9/2 – Match Result).
City will go to the Amex Stadium looking to make it 14 successive league victories in order to be certain of claiming the title (1/12 – Outright) regardless of how Liverpool fare.
However, Silva is wary of the threat posed by Brighton given that they only faced Chris Hughton’s side in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley last month.
City won that game 1-0, but were made to work hard for the victory so Silva wants the side to ensure they do not go into Sunday’s game not expecting a stroll in the park.
Silva said: “(It’s a) difficult game away, we played against them in the FA Cup semi-final. They’re a physical team, so we’re not expecting an easy game, but we know we need to get the three points to win this title.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is just fantastic, all the players, the staff, the fans – the way they pushed us this season is unbelievable.”
Odds subject to change.
