Blades leave it to last minute for Victory with Egan Strike
With barely half-a-minute left of a hard-fought but scoreless affair, Sheffield defender John Egan rose to head in from a corner, giving his side a vital three points against Wolverhampton at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night. With the win Chris Wilder's Blades are now just a point away from the Wolves at the 7th place with 51 points.

Neves had a chance later on but he shot over from 25 yards and those missed opportunities would prove costly for the visitors. The hosts seemed to have taken the lead in the second-half with Billy Sharp spinning around and firing the ball past Wolves keeper Rui Patricio but the Blades skipper was declared offside while collecting a pass.
On a wet, miserable day, a game that saw end-to-end swings actually failed to create too many chances. Wolves' brightest spell came midway during the first half when Adama Traore ran along the byeline before delivering a cross but Diogo Jota failed to capitalize as Blades goalkeeper Dean Henderson managed to catch the ball above his head.
The hosts weren't too flashy either, seeing their best chance coming when Oli McBurnie turned in a header into the waiting arms of Rui Patricio, who barely had to move. The Wolves were let off post halftime when Billy Sharp pounced on a Willy Boly’s back pass but his shot was blocked by the keeper Patricio.
Wilder's men upped the ante in the final ten minutes of the game as they pressed hard for a winner which came quite sensationally with just 23 seconds to go. Oliver Norwood's corner from the right wing was met by Egan who leapt to head home during injury time, sending coach Wilder into raptures on the sidelines.
With their 13th league win of the 2019-20 season, Chris Wilder's side continue to prove his critics wrong. The Blades'return from the pandemic break was disastrous having collected one point from their initial three games post resumption but wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves have put them back on track for next season's Europa League participation.
The loss for Nuno Santo's Wolves was a blow as far as an entry into Champions League goes. They are 3 points away from 5th placed Manchester United and the gap with the Top Four got wider to 7 points after the Bramall Lane defeat.
Sheffield United have a tough fixture coming up against Chelsea and could find staying in the Top 8 quite difficult with Arsenal and Tottenham just one and two points away from them respectively.
