Maurizio Sarri believes his Chelsea side needs more pace and movement in the final third but insists his players are “improving”.

Chelsea (4/5 Top Four Finish) boss Maurizio Sarri has stressed the need for improvement in the final third, while also reiterating his commitment to the club.

The Blues will secure a top-four finish and Champions League football next term if they win their three remaining games.

Chelsea face a tricky looking run-in with games against Manchester United, Watford and Leicester still to play, while they also need to hold something back for their Europa League semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sarri is confident that his side can seal a place in the top four but has highlighted the importance of improving in the final third.

The Italian has demanded a greater intensity from their attacking play to avoid a similar situation which led to their 2-2 draw with Burnley last time out.

Sarri told Chelsea’s official website: “They are improving I think but at the moment we are not able in the offensive phase to play with the right speed, with the right intensity, but also with the right speed of the ball, because sometimes we move the ball too slow, and so we are predictable.

“We need to learn to move the ball at another speed. And of course if I want to move the ball so fast I need more movement without the ball.”

Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford is arguably Chelsea’s toughest remaining fixture (Sunday Live Match Special – 4/5 A Goal Scored In Both Halves), although United’s poor form – losing seven of their last nine across all competitions – will offer hope to the West Londoners.

Sarri’s future at Stamford Bridge has been widely debated over the course of the season with some suggesting he isn’t the right man for the post.

But the former Napoli boss has rubbished claims that he could move on this summer and believes they can be title contenders in the next couple of seasons.

He added: “The Premier League is wonderful and I want to remain in the Premier League.

“I want to remain at Chelsea, because the level is very, very high.

“The atmosphere in the stadiums is really fantastic. And so it’s a wonderful championship. I’d like to remain here.

“I am sure that, in two seasons, we will be able to close to them [Liverpool and Manchester City].”

Odds subject to change.
