Stoke City vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction 10/09/2016 – Take the Draw at 18/1

Updated: 27/01/2023
English Premier League clash – Sept 10, 2016 – Bet365 Stadium
Kick Off 3pm
Stoke City find themselves at the bottom of the table with just one point from three games. Things don't look got good for Mark Hughes when his team faces League runners-up Tottemham on Saturday, home at the Stadium. The only thing he can look forward to is the arrival of Manchester City striker, Wilfried Bony and Bruno Martin Indi, both purchased on the last day of transfer deadline, which was August 31.
It's not that Stoke are devoid of scoring talent. They have players like Xherdan Shakiri and Marko Arnautovic upfront but they just need to get their form back. With Bony joining their ranks there is no reason for them not to get a few goals. Joe Allen brought over from Liverpool should bolster the team's midfield although his form with the Reds recently was nothing to write home about. The match in front of home crowds should help the hosts in finding their lost confidence back.
Tottenham will be entering Saturday night's encounter with much greater confidence given their positive history at this ground. They have won three of their five previous visits to the former Britannia Stadium (now Bet365 stadium) and one of them was a thumping 4-0 win. The Spurs are at 5 points and will need a precious 3 points after Saturday's clash to stay anywhere close to the League table leaders (9 points). They will although be without their ace central midfielder Moussa Dembele, who is still on a six-match suspension following a violent clash with Chelsea's Diego Costa in May this year. Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen upfront are not in the best of forms which could possibly give an opportunity to the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Vincent Janssen to feature in the starting eleven. The brilliant 20-year old Dele Alli's form will be one of the keys to the outcome of the match. Keeper Hugo Lloris seems to have returned from his injury and ready to take charge between the posts. If not, then 32-year old Dutchman, Michel Vorm, could take his place.
For the hosts, the arrival of Bony and other new acquisitions on transfer deadline day will give a boost to Stoke's morale shattered by two heavy defeats to Manchester City and Everton. Tottenham would like to keep their away form intact (just one defeat in their last 6 outings). The odds heavily favour the visitors.
Correct Score Predictions:
Stoke City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur @ 18/1
Tottenham Hotspur starting XI playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation: Lloris (goal); Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dier, Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen and Kane
