There were a few eyebrows raised over the inclusion of Paul Pogba in the PFA Team of the Year – but the stats don’t lie when it comes to the Manchester United midfielder (United 11/2 – Top-Four Finish).

As expected, the Premier League title contenders of Manchester City (2/9 – Premier League Outright) and Liverpool dominated the XI, with Pobga being the only player selected to not come from the Citizens or the Reds.

Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling made up City’s contribution that was voted for by members of the Professional Footballers’ Association.

Liverpool’s (3/1 – Premier League Outright) Andrew Robertson, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane made the cut, while there was no room for their team-mate Mohammed Salah or Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

Some questioned Pogba’s selection in the side but the French World Cup winner has some impressive stats.

The former Juventus star has scored more goals than any other midfielder in the Premier League this season (13) and has the third highest assists with nine.

The 26-year-old has been directly involved in more league goals this campaign for the Red Devils (22) than he has in any of his previous seasons in the top five European leagues.

With the fourth amount of touches for a midfielder in the Premier League and the fifth most passes, the stats really do back Pogba’s inclusion in the PFA side.

Odds subject to change.
