Newcastle fined by FA over betting logo on U18 shirts - (2025)

Updated: 17/03/2025

Newcastle United have been fined £7,500 for breaching the Football Association rules after their under-18 football team side wore kits bearing the logo of a betting company. They forgot to use a different strip without their Premier League kit sponsor emblazoned on it!.

The Magpies are sponsored by the China-based online betting firm Fun88. We at sportingways.com are fans of Fun88 bookmaker who offer a free £28 bet to new players, terms and conditions apply and only for 18 and older players. Obviously Newcastle overlooked this error when they had their underage players wearing the same shirts as their first team.

The Football Association who charged Newcastle last month, clarified that they were in breach of their kit and advertising regulations.

FA rules state “services and related activities such as alcohol and gambling” cannot be worn by U18 teams.
