Next Leeds United Manager[fcrp_feat_sc sc_id=”17655″] Mick McCarthy had been the odds on favourite to replace Heckingbottom, should the club look to make a change but has now drifted out again. There are though plenty of candidates in the running at Betfred football odds in the next Leeds United manager market.

With the Leeds United squad having returned from their post-season tour of Myanmar, attention is now returning to what the club are looking to do this summer .

It is set to be a busy few weeks at Elland Road, as the club move to improve their playing squad following a disappointing 13 th-place finish during which the gap between Leeds and their Championship's promotion contenders became all-too apparent .

While there will no doubt be comings and goings in regard to the playing staff, speculation over Paul Heckingbottom's long-term future at the club continues to rumbling on .

The Leeds boss won only four times in the 16 games he oversaw since joining the club in February as he failed to really turn around the club's poor run of kind which considered them drop out of the play-off race and cost Thomas Christiansen his chore .

Heckingbottom himself admitted that the pressure was there ahead of the final couple of games of the season .

” I know it's there but it's not something I want to be thinking about or letting affect what I do ,” he said before Leeds' defeat at Norwich . ” We could have won nine games, I wouldn't have been saying anything different when I speak to the owner, the director of football, the director, whoever it may be . ” And I'm really clear in my mind what needs to happen here for us to get better and achieve and outfight teams in this league, outperform squads in this league and build and get better and better with a football team which has a real clear identity, has an attachment with the fans, represents the club really well so nothing will change .”

Mick McCarthy

This pressure led to the online bookmakers drawing up a market for the next Leeds United manager, which immediately find Mick McCarthy leap to the top of the bet market at Betfred football odds after he left the Ipswich chore .

The former Republic of Ireland boss was odds-on to be the next human up, with Paddy Power even suspending the market on him, as speculation on social media began to ramp up .

But after being linked with a number of other vacancies, including Sunderland, Barnsley and West Brom, McCarthy's odds of landing the Elland Road chore have dropped to 9/4 with Betfred Football Betting.

Jaap Stam

Ex-Man United star Stam may not be a popular choice among the Leeds fans.

He has been replaced at the top of the betting by former Reading boss Jaap Stam, who Leeds were keen to bring in last summertime .

Stam narrowly missed out on promotion with Reading 12 months ago when his side lost in the play-off final, but the Royals suffered a dramatic turn around in fortunes this season, narrowly avoiding the drop into League One .

The ex-Manchester United defender is currently 6/4 with the Betfred bookmakers to replace Heckingbottom- if and when Leeds decide to make a change .

Stam has also been linked with the vacant Swansea job and is 4/ 1 for the post at the Liberty Stadium, behind Graham Potter( 12/5) and Chris Coleman( 3/1 ) in the Betfred football betting.

Other Candidates

Back at Elland Road, McCarthy is now out to 9/4 for the Leeds job, ahead of former Whites boss David O'Leary who is 5/1, with Steve McClaren and Nigel Pearson both 15/2. Former Leicester title-winning boss Claudio Ranieri is a 10/1 chance with Betfred football betting .
