Mo Salah Liverpool's Premier League striker sensation determined the back of the net to soothe nerves at Anfield as the Reds attempt to qualify for the Champions League. The player collected the Golden Boot and broke the Premier League goal scoring record in the process.

Mo Salah broke the Premier League record for a 38 -game season in Liverpool's final game of the campaign at home to Brighton, and picked up the Golden Boot for good measure.

The Egyptian scored his 32 nd of the league campaign at the Kop end 26 minutes into the game, soothing mounting nerves in a match the Reds had to avoid defeat in to seal qualification for the top four.

They aimed up running out 4-0 winners, thanks to further ten-strikes from Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.

Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez had all managed 31 in a 38 -game season before- the total that Salah was on before the final weekend of the campaign- but the forward's strike, his 44 th of the season in all competitions, assures him move above the Premier League legends.

Andy Cole managed 34 objectives in the 1993/94 season, with Shearer following suit in the next campaign, but both of those two had four extra games in which to get them.

The Egyptian picked up the Golden Boot after the game, and spoke about how proud he was to win it ahead of Tottenham's Harry Kane, who scored a hugely respectable 30.

” It is very special to be honest ,” ” It is always in my mind to help the team, and it was always in my mind to come back to England( after a disappointing spell at Chelsea ).”

When asked if Salah will repeat his feat again next season, he joked:” I will, don't worry”, before adding” I'll do my best .”

Salah's stunning feat has been made even more remarkable by the fact that he is in his first season with the Reds, having failed to pull out any trees during his previous spell in England with Chelsea.

The forward picked up the Football Writers' Player of the Year award last week to go along with the Premier League Player of the Season and the PFA Player of the Season gong, as well as Liverpool's Fans' and Players' Player of the Season.

As well as his Golden Boot, Reds fans presented Salah with their' Golden Samba' award- an adidas trainer spraypainted goal- for the club's best player this season.

He'll go in search of more goals when the Reds face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26.
