Manchester United v Sheffield United Preview

Manchester United will rue not having collected a couple of points more post their 1-1 draw to Tottenham Hotspur as they prepare to host a deflated Sheffield United side on Wednesday evening at Old Trafford.

The Blades who went down to 10 men in the 50th minute at St.James Park and capitulated 0-3 to Newcastle United will expect to bounce back against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on the 24th.

For Sheffield, midfielder John Fleck is expected to return while defender Jack O’Connell's fitness could be some cause for concern to coach Chris Wilder.

If O’Connell does return, he will take the place of John Egan who was red-carded in the Newcastle game.

The Blades will be without their outstanding goalkeeper Dean Henderson which is a big blow for them, his loan move imbroglio coming in the way of future appearances for the club.

Victor Lindelof looks doubtful after leaving the field mid-way in the Tottenham game. Solskjaer could be forced to have Paul Pogba in his starting line-up after his inspirational performance in the Spurs' draw.

The Paul Pogba-Bruno Fernandes will once again be expected to disintegrate the Blades’ dour defence and create opportunities for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to capitalize on.

Sheffield who were punching far above their weight when the lockdown occurred look a bit jaded after their return as evinced in their performance against Newcastle.

The Red Devils have undoubtedly improved during the course of the season especially in 2020.

With their forthcoming rival's confidence at a low ebb and made worse by the likes of Henderson, Egan and O’Connell missing, it's hard to imagine the Sheffield defense weathering the powerful United attack.
