Transfer news and rumors
[fcrp_feat_sc sc_id=”30517″]Arsenal are on the verge of signing a new contract for their ace striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amidst rumors of a move to China. The Gunners are willing to have the Gabonese striker around at the Emirates for 3 more years despite the fact that he will be turning 30 this year. Aubameyang, who won the Premier League Golden Boot in the just finished season was the English tournament's top scorer along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, scoring 22 goals in all. The management at the Emirates want to reward the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker with a new £200,000-a-week contract that they feel will keep him with the North London club for some time at least. Arsenal coach Unai Emery is in a rebuild mode and is considering offloading as many as four defenders this season. A weak Arsenal defense was one of the reasons the club couldn't finish in the top Four of the Premier League with regular names like Stephan Lichtsteiner, Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal performing well below par. Arsenal have just have £40 million to spend this summer after missing out on next season's Champions League qualification and Emery must resort to selling some of his players if he wants extra funds on top of this measly transfer budget.
Meanwhile, the impending departure of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to Juventus has evoked a positive reaction from the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who has urged his club to pursue the 60-year old Italian coach following Massimiliano Allegri's departure. Meanwhile the Serie A giants have evinced interest in Manchester United mid-fielder Paul Pogba and are in touch with French international's agent Mino Raiola over a possible summer move to Turin. Pogba could be back to his former club from where he made a record-breaking move in 2016 to United at a staggering fee of £89m. The 26-year old Frenchman has had a patchy tenure at Old Trafford managing just 31 goals from as many as 135 appearances for the Red Devils. Pogba has also been linked to a move to Real Madrid after describing the club as “a dream for anyone” just a couple of months ago. Even Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane seemed keen on Pogba, but with the Spanish giants on the brink of signing a mega deal with Chelsea star Eden Hazard, interest for the United mid-fielder could take a backseat.
And away in Paris, World Cup-winning star Kylian Mbappe dropped a bombshell while suggesting that his future could lie outside his club, Paris St. Germain. The 20-year old French forward had been under the lens of major clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United about a year ago. Whether Mbappe and Neymar, who had joined PSG on record-breaking transfer deals will once again be pursued by Zidane is another matter, but Les Parisiens boss Thomas Tuchel recently admitted that he couldn’t guarantee either player staying in Paris beyond the summer. Zidane, on the other hand, has been given a free hand to effect a major overhaul and he has asked the likes of Gareth Bale, Keylor Navas, Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente, Mariano Diaz and James Rodriguez to leave the club although none of them have yet found any suitors as of yet.
