Jurgen Klopp has admitted Mohamed Salah needs “further assessment” to see if he will be fit for either of Liverpool’s next two games.

Liverpool (3/1 Premier League Outright) boss Jurgen Klopp admits he does not know if Mohamed Salah will be available for next week’s crucial games against Barcelona and Wolves.

Egypt international Salah grabbed his 22nd Premier League goal of the season as the Reds moved back to the top of the standings with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday night.

However, the 26-year-old was not on the field for Divock Origi’s late winner as he was withdrawn with 17 minutes remaining after sustaining a nasty looking head injury when he clashed with Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The former Roma star left the field on a stretcher and now must be considered a major doubt for the second leg of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final tie with Barcelona, as well as next weekend’s final Premier League match of the season against Wolves.

“We have to see. He got a proper knock on the head,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “He watched the game, obviously inside, and was absolutely okay

“We’ll have to do a further assessment of course.”

Liverpool are now two points clear of title rivals Manchester City at the top of the standings, although the Citizens can return to the summit if they beat Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium on Monday (Match Betting – Man City 1/6, Draw 8/1, Leicester 18/1).

Whatever happens in that match, the title race will go down to the final day of the season and Klopp admits he was proud of the way his side dug in to secure their 29th league win of the campaign.

“These boys today did it like they did it. I didn’t see anybody being nervous. We just knew we had to try it,” the German added.

“It was a tough game against a powerful and physically stronger than us team today. We had to fight. The boys did that and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Odds subject to change.
