Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on his Liverpool players after they produced one of the greatest European comebacks of all time to book their place in the Champions League final on Tuesday night (Liverpool 2/5 – Champions League Outright).

Trailing 3-0 from the first leg against Barcelona, Liverpool were given no chance of progressing from the semi-final after both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were ruled out through injury.

However, in front of a packed Anfield, the Reds produced a truly sensational performance to defeat the Catalans 4-0 and advance into the final for the second straight year with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Belgium international Divock Origi, who netted the winner in the 3-2 victory at Newcastle last Saturday, and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum were the heroes for the Reds as the duo both ended with a brace.

Klopp, whose Liverpool side will now take on either Ajax or Tottenham in the Champions League final, was ecstatic with the sensational display and has credited his players for their efforts.

“It means so much to all of us,” he said. “There are more important things in the world. But creating this emotional atmosphere together is so special. It’s all about the players.

“The mix of potential and unbelievable heart is just a mix I never saw before. It shows what’s possible in football. It’s so nice.”

Liverpool’s domestic season comes to a close this Sunday when they welcome Wolves to Anfield. The hosts will be hoping for another miracle, with Manchester City one point ahead of them in the table.

The Reds, who are 6/1 to win their first Premier League title, need to beat Wolves and hope defending champions City slip up away at Brighton.

Odds subject to change.
