Job far from done for Pep

Man City boss Pep Guardiola says it is “impossible” for his side to win every game from here on in and has told his players to be “calm”.

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City’s hectic schedule means it is inevitable they will drop points between now and the end of the season.

The Citizens went four points clear at the top of the Premier League courtesy of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Watford. While Liverpool can cut the gap with a victory against Burnley on Sunday, City’s price of just 3/10 to top the standings reflects the feeling that the title is now theirs to lose.

However, this will be easier said than done as, having already collected the Carabao Cup, Guardiola’s side are also chasing the Champions League and FA Cup.

The Spaniard could again rotate for Tuesday’s visit of Schalke to the Etihad before changing it up again for Saturday’s trip to Championship Swansea in the FA Cup.

City are 5/6 to win that tournament, while they are also the 5/2 favourites to conquer Europe by winning in Madrid on June 1.

All looks well from the outside but Guardiola is keen to ensure his players maintain their focus as he feels they still have plenty of work to do between now and the summer.

“What we have achieved this season and last season is because we deserved it,” he said. “There are nine games left and every game is important. We were waiting for a few months to be top and now, we are top. We try to win every game.

“I guess we are going to drop points from now until the end of the season with he schedule. It’s impossible (not to) with the amount of games we have in all competitions, if we go through. We have to be calm and prepared.”

Odds subject to change.
