Clarets to halt Toffees’ top-seven charge?

Updated: 30/01/2023
We’re in for a bumper feast of Premier League footy with seven of the weekend’s 10 games being shown live on the box, starting with Everton v Burnley tonight at Goodson Park.
After an inconsistent campaign, the Toffees have become formidable on home turf, downing Chelsea and Arsenal before a fine 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United.
They’ve still got a sniff of seventh place and a Europa League spot, but Sean Dyche’s Clarets have been tough to beat of late. This should be a feisty encounter…
Match Odds
With three home wins on the spin, our traders are justifiably giving Everton 4/7 favouritism for another three points tonight.
But Burnley have already picked up points at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge this term. There’s 24/5 about the Lancashire side ending Everton’s seventh-place hopes.
A draw doesn’t do much for either side at this stage of the season, but 29/10 says it ends all-square.
Talking tactics
Gylfi Sigurdsson has been playing excellently in recent weeks. The Iceland international will again look to pull the strings for Marco Silva’s men.
The Toffees are likely to go 4-2-3-1, with Sigurdsson, Richarlison and Bernard in a three behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It could be straight-up 4-4-2 for Burnley, with Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood looking to plunder in another couple of goals, with both strikers already into double figures for the campaign.

Goalscorer odds
Brazilian Richarlison is favourite to score first at 16/5, ahead of Sigurdsson at 7/2. The pair both scored in Everton’s 5-1 win at Turf Moor in December.
With three goals in his last four games, there’s 7/1 about Wood bagging the opener and 13/5 for the Kiwi to net anytime.
And after netting in both of his last two away games, Barnes is 12/5 anytime to net for the third road trip in succession.
