Can the Reds hold their nerve?

Updated: 20/11/2024

Liverpool host Chelsea in a huge game this afternoon, knowing that victory would see them move ever closer to that long-awaited Premier League title.

But we’ve been here before. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea spoiled the party when Steven Gerrard infamously slipped five years ago.

Chelsea need points themselves as they chase a top-four spot. Will they derail Liverpool’s title bid again?

Keep reading for all the odds ahead of a potentially decisive game…

Match Odds

Liverpool are 4/6 to extend their recent winning run to seven games in all competitions.

Chelsea are hitting some form just at the right time too. They’ve won four on the bounce, but a trip to Anfield is another matter entirely. We’ve got them as 21/5 outsiders.

There’s 14/5 about a draw between these sides. Three of their last five league clashes have ended 1-1. Another repeat of that scoreline is going for 13/2 this time.

Talking Tactics

We’ve seen a more controlled Liverpool this season, but could they return to the heavy pressing against Chelsea’s possession-based approach? Jorginho has struggled to cope for the Blues when he’s been hassled.

Naby Keita is set to continue in midfield for the Merseysiders after bagging in two consecutive games. Jurgen Klopp will be glad to have Andy Robertson available again at left-back too.

Maurizio Sarri rested some of his regular starters in the win over Slavia Prague. They should all come back in for this one. Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be among those returning to the starting XI after impressing recently.

The Blues will look to get Eden Hazard on the ball whenever they can. He’s scored in both games against Liverpool so far this season.

Goalscorer Odds

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane share 7/2 favouritism to open the scoring, while Keita is 4/1 to keep his scoring run going.

We make Hazard 12/5 to get yet another goal against the Reds. Gonzalo Higuain is 3/1 to get a much-needed goalm with Olivier Giroud a touch longer at 16/5.
