Betting Preview: Nottingham Forest v Derby County
Updated: 09/10/2024
Nottingham Forest head into the East Midlands derby on Monday as 6/4 favourites against their oldest rivals Derby County at The City Ground.
Martin O’Neill’s men will look to continue their strong home form this calendar year with a priceless home win against The Rams and will hope to make it three defeats on the trot for Derby, who are struggling for form in 2019.
Both teams are quite closely matched in the league and will be battling for that all-important play-off spot come the end of the season. We can expect a game of tight margins, but Forest fans will be hoping for more success at The City Ground off the back of recent home wins against Leeds, Wigan and Brentford. They could nick another big win here!
We have seen two draws in the last two meetings between the sides, which can be backed at 19/10 with the sponsors BetBright.
Full-time result
Nottingham Forest – 7/5
Draw – 19/10
Derby County – 9/4
Since their last encounter with Derby in December, Forest have kept just one clean sheet. However, The Reds have been ruthless at home themselves, putting nine goals past their opposition in their last four home encounters.
If we focus more towards recent East Midlands derbies, the ‘both teams to score’ market could be quite an attractive one for a bet here.
Both Teams To Score
Yes – 8/11
No – 19/20
The last two meetings between these sides have finished in a scoreless draw and the price of this happening three times in a row is currently 8/1! However, Forest have had some high-scoring draws this season including a 3-3 with league leaders Norwich, 2-2 away to West Brom and that unforgettable 5-5 classic with Aston Villa. If you fancy a repeat of the 2017 home fixture against The Rams, it is currently priced at 11/1.
Correct Score
0-0 – 8/1
1-0 – 13/2
1-1 – 9/2
2-1 – 8/1
2-2 – 11/1
A huge part of Nottingham Forest’s success at home has been down to the high-firing Lewis Grabban, who has 16 goals and three assists so far this season and will more than likely be the biggest threat to Derby’s defence on Monday evening. Grabban is 9/2 to bag the first goal on Monday night.
First Goalscorer
Grabban 9/2
Murphy 6/1
Cash 7/1
Carvalho 8/2
