Bayern Munich hope to land Manchester City’s Leroy Sane this summer.

Bayern Munich Karl Heinz-Rumenigge is hopeful of completing a deal to sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sane this summer (Sane 1/2 Bayern Munich – Club After Summer Transfer Window).

The Bundesliga champions are keen to strengthen their wide areas following the departures of veteran pair Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Germany international Sane has emerged as a target for Niko Kovac’s side, and a move would take him back to his homeland.

He did not feature as much as he would have liked for Pep Guardiola’s side last year, as he could not dislodge Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling in the wide areas, and had to settle for the bench for a lot of their Premier League games.

Bayern have been strongly linked with his signature throughout the summer and have not hid their desire to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

And, Rumenigge is remaining confident they will get their man.

Rummenigge told a news conference: “The status is that he comes back from vacation this week and did not want to talk during the vacation time.

“Now you will have to wait in peace and quiet to see if something moves in this direction.

“It is well known that we are still looking for a wide player. We lost Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, two players who have shaped the face of Bayern.”

Niko Kovac is also echoing those sentiments, though he admits clubs in Germany can struggle to compete with those in the Premier League or La Liga.

“Yes. You’ve seen his capabilities with the national team,” Kovac said when asked if he wanted Sane.

“We have to compete with billionaires and this has become much more difficult for the Bundesliga. This will continue.

“The best players play in Spain or England. There they get tens of times our salaries.”

Sane is 10/1 to join Paris Saint-Germain and 20/1 to make a move to Juventus.
