West Ham v Arsenal Betting Tips: Gunners to score a hammer blow?

Updated: 18/11/2024

Preview and odds ahead of Premier League clash

West Ham United entertain Arsenal at the London Stadium at lunchtime hoping to bag only a second victory against a ‘top six’ club this campaign.

The Irons beat Manchester United in September but a win over Arsenal would feel like a real significant step.

The Gunners have had a solid first half to this term and are still on the coat-tails of Chelsea in fourth-spot.

Doing the double over West Ham this season would be a good catapult to a productive second half of the season.

Head-to-Head

Arsenal came from one-nil down at the Emirates Stadium to win 3-1 in August. But it looks like the Gunners will be without both scorers that day. Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck miss out through injury.

West Ham are on a run of seven games without a win over their London rivals. The last time they scored a victory was in 2015.

Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate notched a goal apiece in a 2-0 away win.

But that has been their only success over the North Londoners since 2007.

Likely XIs

West Ham vs Arsenal - Football tactics and formations
Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny should be fit enough to take their place in part of a back three alongside Sokratis.

A midfield duo of Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka will try to nullify the threat of Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass. Mesut Ozil could also return to Arsenal’s starting eleven.

There could be a familiar face for Arsenal fans in the West Ham side today. Samir Nasri has signed a six-month deal for the Hammers and could feature.

Marko Arnautovic will have to shake-off questions over his future to lead the line. If he isn’t in a fit state, expect Andy Carroll to take his place.

Key Battles

Unai Emery could field both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in attack. It’s clear to see their off the field relationship is beginning to strike a chord on the pitch too.

They should be up against West Ham’s defensive duo of Issa Diop and Fabien Balbuena. The summer signings have formed a partnership equipped with toughness and technique.

Declan Rice’s presence in defensive midfield gives the Irons a young and exciting base to build from.

But Arsenal’s attacking options could prove too much with the reported Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey always a goal threat from the bench.

Match Odds

The Gunners to win and continue their great run over the East London side is at 21/20.

Arsenal have only kept three clean sheets in the league this season. So both teams to score and an away win is available at 9/4.

West Ham to grab a rare victory in this fixture is 23/10. Arnautovic is 6/4 to score anytime, whilst former Gunner Lucas Perez is 19/2 to strike a blow to his old side.

Both sides to share the spoils can be found at 13/5. Lacazette to score first in a victory for Unai Emery’s men is 5/2.

Ramsey to bag anytime is 9/4.
