Wednesday’s Champions League tips: Crunch time for Liverpool and Spurs

Updated: 09/12/2024

Odds and preview for tonight’s European games

The Champions League feast continues tonight, as groups A-D play their penultimate group fixtures.

All eyes will be on London and Paris. Both Tottenham and Liverpool must avoid defeat if they’re to maintain hopes of progression.

Can they get a result versus Kylian Mbappe and co? Here’s your one-stop guide to tonight’s headline games…

Paris Saint-Germain v Liverpool

This is arguably the biggest game of Liverpool’s season yet. Should Jurgen Klopp’s men lose, and Napoli win at home to Crvena Zvezda, then the Reds will be under huge pressure to progress.

PSG have won all 14 league games so far, but did lose 3-2 in a thrilling Anfield encounter. They’re 11/10 to avenge that defeat with a win tonight.

Liverpool, who have lost their last three Champions League away games, conceding seven goals in total, are 23/10. A draw is 14/5.

Both Neymar and Mbappe should be fit tonight. The pair share 4/1 favouritism to score first. Mo Salah is the visitor’s most likely first scorer at 5/1, with Sadio Mane 15/2. Goals are on the cards tonight, with over 4.5 available at 14/5.

Tottenham v Inter

Fail to win tonight and Tottenham’s Champions League dream is over for another year. And even if Spurs do defeat Inter Milan at Wembley, they’ve still got to get a result at the Nou Camp next month.

But after their best performance of the campaign versus Chelsea on Saturday, Mauricio Pochettino’s men should be fully confident of beating the 2010 champions.

Our traders go 4/6 that Spurs do just that. Inter are 4/1 to prematurely end Spurs’ chances with an away win, while a draw – which also puts the Italian side through – is 3/1.

Harry Kane has five goals in six games, and is 13/5 favourite to score first. Son Heung-Min, who was superb versus Chelsea, is 13/2 to open the scoring and 21/10 anytime.

Porto v Schalke

With Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund both likely to wrap up proceedings in Group A, attention turns to the battle in Group D.

Porto lead Schalke by two points, with Galatasaray a further four back. The Portuguese side are 17/20 to seal top spot with a win this evening.

Defeat would leave Schalke within Galatasaray’s grasp, should the Turkish side win at Lokomotiv Moscow. But a win for the Bundesliga outfit at 15/4 could yet throw this quartet wide open.
