Sunday’s FA Cup Betting Tips: Leicester, Watford and City in action

Updated: 09/12/2024

Third round betting preview and latest odds

Woking, Oldham Athletic and Newport County are just three of the teams hoping that the magic of the cup is alive and well on another busy day of third round action.

The trio all face Premier League opposition, with the Exiles taking on Leicester City in front of the BBC cameras at 4:30pm. We’ve tipped up that match, alongside four others from today’s FA Cup.

Fulham v Oldham Athletic

Out of all of today’s third round ties, this looks like the biggest potential banana skin. Fulham have been leaking goals left right and centre this term, and take on League Two’s fifth-highest goalscorers.

With that in mind, Both Teams to Score is 17/20. Fulham should still prevail at 3/10, although you can double up on the two markets and back Fulham to Win and Both Teams to Score at 7/4.

Manchester City v Rotherham United

Pep Guardiola and co. couldn’t have asked for a much more straightforward tie amidst a busy fixture schedule. Not only are the Millers a division below the champions, they’re also winless away from home in their last 16 matches in all competitions.

City aren’t very appealing at 1/16. So there’s 8/13 about them to Win to Nil, and 19/10 for the Citizens to continue their trend of scoring early and be winning after 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers v Leeds United

QPR’s record in this competition leaves a lot to be desired. The Hoops have only won two FA Cup matches since 2002 and have bowed out at this stage of the tournament in each of the last five seasons.

Both sides will make changes ahead of this one. But Championship leaders Leeds look better placed to win inside 90 minutes at 29/20. They’re 21/10 to Win with Over 1.5 Goals in the match for the fourth meeting in a row against the R’s.

Woking v Watford

Woking boss Alan Dowson has been keen to talk down his side’s chances of an upset ahead of Watford’s visit to Kingfield. The National League South boss is probably right.

Hornets chief Javi Gracia has plenty of depth in his squad, and even with seven or eight changes, this should be a formality for the 1/5 favourites. The Premier League side are 6/4 to Win with Over 3.5 Goals in the match.

Domingos Quina is one player who’ll hope to get in on the act. The 19-year-old has been a bit-part player this term but has netted two goals in seven matches. He should start here, and is 23/10 Anytime or 12/1 for 2 or More.

Newport County v Leicester City

It’s difficult to see Newport causing a shock in South Wales. The League Two side have the joint-second leakiest defence in their division and are facing a Leicester outfit on a high after three wins in four over the Christmas period.

The Foxes are 2/7 in the outright market. And with Claude Puel set to rotate his squad, Kelechi Iheanacho looks a good bet to feature. The Nigerian youngster has netted nine goals in the competition, including two braces and a hat-trick. He’s 11/5 for a double, and 11/1 about the treble.
