Roberto Martinez into second-favourite for Real Madrid job

A huge gamble has taken place on Roberto Martinez becoming the next Real Madrid manager, after Antonio Conte reportedly removed himself from the running.

The Belgium boss has seen his odds slashed from 12/1 into 9/4 to take the hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu, making him the second-favourite.

Current interim boss Santiago Solari is the marginal favourite at 7/4. He’ll take charge of the side for the first time tonight, as Real bid to avoid a Copa Del Rey upset at Melilla.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is next up at 5/2, ahead of Conte at 4/1 and ex-Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger at 8/1.

“All the money in the last 24 hours has been for Roberto Martinez to be given the job at Real Madrid therefore it does suggest to us that the Spanish giants are keen on securing the services of the Belgium national team manager,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Santiago Solari has been given the reins on a temporary basis and if the team performs well in that period, he will surely have a strong chance of getting the role permanently,” added Hill.
